Review: Elegear Cooling Blanket

I still cannot get my head around the fact that I have reached the grand old age of 50 (apparently it’s the new 40), but there are some changes to my body that make it all too real.

I am currently in the perimenopause and one of the most uncomfortable symptoms for me is the hot flushes, or “tropical moments” as I lovingly call them.

I was invited to review the Elegear Cooling Blanket and couldn’t wait to put it to the test.

Available in two colours, blue / grey and striped or solid colour, the Elegear cool blanket is made of Arc-Chill Q-Max 0.4 cooling fibres that can absorb heat and sweat from your body and keep you cool. It’s hard to sleep in the summer, or when suffering with night sweats, but this blanket helps keep you comfortably cool by brilliantly absorbing your body heat, reducing skin temperature by 2 to 5°C instantly.

The blanket is lovely and lightweight, making it easy to store and carry. It can be used as a sofa blanket, travel blanket or on your bed. The blanket has different textures each side with one side feeling like silk and the other patterned and more blanket like. I used to wear bamboo clothing when pregnant and breastfeeding and found it both cooling and comfy.

We haven’t had any really hot summer nights yet, but I still do get too hot, even with a summer duvet, so I was really hopeful trying this blanket.

Despite being lightweight, it has a heaviness about it that I like when settling time to sleep. It definitely has a coolness to it and although it hasn’t prevented the hot flushes, they haven’t been as bad.

The Elegear Cooling Blanket is available from amazon with an RRP of £45.99.
