Review: Gel Blaster Surge

Now that Isaac has reached the heady heights of the teenage years, they he and his friends still love to do battle with each other, but nerf bullets don’t quite cut it.

Isaac is a big fan of paintball, but as you can imagine, it can be an expensive hobby, so when we were invited to review the new Gel Blaster Surge, I knew he would love it.

The rechargeable Gel Blaster SURGE shoots water based beads or “Gellets” that burst on impact.

Gel-Blasters

This innovative blaster is ready to blast straight out of the box – fully charged with a hopper full of hydrated Gellets.

In the box:

  • Gel Blaster Surge
  • Hopper
  • Fast Charging Cable
  • 10,000 Gellets
  • Safety Goggles
  • x2 barrels for adjustable velocity

The Gel Blaster Surge is most like airsoft but with no pain, stain or clean up. I would however recommend wearing long sleeves / trousers as they do have a light sting if they hit bare skin.

Isaac-Gel-Blaster

Isaac did battle with his friend in the local park, but they are suitable for use anywhere with a bit of space outside. It has two modes of play – semi and fully-automatic fire modes, which you can alternate between with a simple flick of the switch.

Gel Blasters water based Gellets are eco-friendly, non-toxic, non-irritating and burst on contact.   All you need to do is soak them in water for a minimum of 2 hours and watch your ammo grow. I would, however, recommend soaking them overnight for the best results.

If you are looking for something to get your gaming obsessed boys (and girls) out of the house, then these are definitely the toy of choice. Isaac and his friends have had lots of fun with these and I have already ordered more Gellets (RRP: £7.00 for 10,000).

Gel Blaster Surge has an RRP of £60 and is available from Toy Town and Currys. They also have bundles with accessories, including 40,000 Gellets and Gellet Depot on Amazon for £99.95
