Horrible Histories has always been one of the best family-friendly ways to delve into the darker facets of our history, constantly finding a way to educate in the funniest ways possible. Returning in 2023 following last year’s incredibly successful run, their dive into the tumultuous Tudor era of British history, Terrible Tudors, is back at The Garrick theatre for the whole summer period. 

The show hilariously timelines the horrible Henries to the end of evil Elizabeth, during which you can hear the legends and lies that make up the story of the torturing Tudors. Find out the fate of Henry’s headless wives and his punch-up with the Pope. Meet Bloody Mary and see Ed fall dead in his bed. Survive the Spanish Armada as they launch their attack!

It’s a great, family-friendly show that’ll be educational for the younger in the crowd and a great dose of fun for everyone else!

Back To The Future – The Musical

Take an electrifying ride back in time, and treat yourself to a special theatre experience with family, as you relive the 1985 blockbuster film and pop culture phenomenon that arrives in London’s West End as a groundbreaking new musical adventure!

When Marty McFly finds himself transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history. Now he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past and send himself… back to the future.

For any families who are big fans of the original movie trilogy, or for those parents who want to give their children a slice of their childhood, then this epic theatre show is the one for you this year.

 Crazy For You

When: Saturday 24th June – Wednesday 20th September 2023

Where: Gillian Lynne Theatre in London

This spectacular production, directed and choreographed by multi-Tony and Olivier award winner Susan Stroman to rave reviews, is coming to the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London this year, and you and your family quite simply have to be there.

The show sees theatre-mad Bobby Child torn between his show-business dreams and running the family bank. He reluctantly heads west to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a theatre’s mortgage, only to fall for the theatre owner’s daughter, Polly. Desperate to prove his good faith, Bobby decides to put on a show – complete with dancers from the glamorous Zangler Follies in New York City – to save the theatre, renew the town and hopefully win Polly’s love.

From the mesmeric dance routines to the gorgeous costume design, this show is set to be one of the best on the London Theatre circuit this year, and is one that all the family can get involved with, secure those tickets early as this one will be selling out!

The Tiger Who Came For Tea

When: Monday 10th July – Sunday 3rd September 2023

Where: Theatre Royal Haymarket in London

One for families whose littleuns are especially little, The Tiger Who Came To Tea, based on Britain’s best-loved picture book by Judith Kerr and the Olivier Award-nominated smash hit show of the same name, is returning to the West End for Summer 2023.

Bring the kids and watch their glee as the tea-guzzling tiger rings the doorbell just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. This delightful family show is packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos! 

This is a stunning and widely adored stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem… expect to be surprised and for your kids to come home recounting the whole thing. We can’t recommend it enough!

The Great British Bake Off Musical

When:  Sunday 26th February – Saturday 13th May 2023

Where: Noel Coward Theatre in London

If you and the family love to sit down and feast on all things Bake Off when it’s on the telly, then you just have to sink your teeth into this incredible Musical adaption that has been cooking in the oven for the last five years.

Follow the trials and tribulations of these musically inclined bakers as they enter the hallowed tent, including a policeman, a carer, a sixth form student, a retired dinner lady, an environmentalist vegan, an Italian fashionista, and more, as they come together to share their journeys of friendship, love, and laughter.

Everyone is welcome in this Bake Off tent, and you and the family can expect a scrumptious signature slice of humour, heart, and abundant joy, with sixteen wonderful new memorable songs. All the ingest before the next series airs!
