If you need help and advice then you could get in contact with The ADHD Centre. They offer a parental ADHD behaviour management course which could really help you get through the lack of routines that are school holidays.
Take a look below for some ideas on what you can do and where you can go this festive season.
Christmas Markets
One thing that can be super fun around Christmas time is the markets. A lot of major towns and cities put on Christmas markets that draw in huge gatherings. Here you can experience foods from all over the world as well as different trinkets and decorations. You may be able to buy some gifts and presents for close family and friends while you are there. Two major Christmas markets in the UK are Birmingham and The Southbank. These not only offer market stalls, but they also have something to entertain the kids in the form of carousels and other rides.
Cinema
If you and the kids enjoy watching films then why not head off to the cinema to catch the latest movies? During school holidays is when you can catch the latest kids’ movies at various times throughout the day. You could go and see the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid that comes out at the beginning of December. There is also a sequel to Puss in Boots coming out on the 21st of December, which children will adore. Get some snacks before you go, this will save you a small fortune when you are at the cinema.
Decorations At Home
With Christmas around the corner, there is always the option of encouraging the kids to help with the Christmas decorations. They will love helping you put the tree up and choosing which branches to hang the decorations on. Be aware that children can argue over who is doing what when it comes to decorations. Have something ready and planned for each one of your children to avoid this happening. How about someone puts the topper on the tree and the other one turns on the lights? If they can’t decide which, draw names out of a hat or flip a coin.
Pyjama Day
Remember, the children and you are on holiday from work and school so there may be days when you don’t want to do anything at all. This is perfectly fine and with it being freezing cold outside, who can blame you? Enjoying a pyjama day will teach the children that it is okay to have a chill day and that there is no pressure to get up and get ready.
