Review: Spa Break at the Connaught Hotel Bournemouth

Back in July 2005, my husband and I got married and held our wedding reception at the Connaught Hotel in Bournemouth, so it is a place that holds lots of special memories for us.

We have been back for meals a couple of times since, but never used their spa facilities.

We were invited to revisit and review one of their spa breaks last week.

The Connaught Hotel is a 4* Boutique Hotel and Spa situated on Bournemouth’s West Cliff, just a few minutes from Bournemouth’s infamous sandy beaches and conveniently close to Bournemouth town centre.

The ground floor features an AA Rosette brasserie, which serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and also has an incredible gin bar, with over 200 different gins available to try.

The basement features the Bluewater spa, which is free to use for all guests and also offers treatments to the general public.

The spa facilities include an 18m indoor swimming pool with sun loungers, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, four treatment rooms (including two doubles), a fully equipped gym and a stunning relaxation lounge.

Treatments include massage, facials, scrubs and wraps. I opted to have a facial, whilst my husband enjoyed use of the facilities.

I have not treated myself to a facial for a long time and it was heavenly. I was so relaxed and my skin was glowing afterwards. They gave me a booklet of the products they had used and recommendations for products to use at home, but there was no hard sell.

The hotel itself has 81 rooms, 4 of which are suites and we were lucky enough to be staying in their Orchid suite.

The Orchid Suite is south-facing, and is positioned on the top floor of the main hotel. It has sliding doors leading to a private balcony, which overlooks the hotel gardens and offers a tantalising glimpse of the sea through the trees.

The suite has 250ft² of living space, a 6ft super king bed, 32″ flat screen TV with radio and 100+ channels, an iPhone docking area, tea and coffee making facilities and a desk area.

The bathroom was divine, with a large Victorian style roll top bath, large separate shower, toilet and sink.

The room also comes with a dedicated parking space, which is really helpful as parking is a premium in this area.

We had a lovely, relaxing, child-free stay. From the moment we arrived for our spa break, the experience was pleasurable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and accommodating, without being intrusive and the hotel was spotlessly clean and tidy. We will definitely return to visit the spa.

The Connaught Hotel is the perfect place to stay if you are spending time in Bournemouth as it is less than a 5 minute walk to the town centre, but far enough out to be quieter.
