Let’s be honest, the first city that comes to most people’s mind when they talk about the United Kingdom is London. It is not an unheard or irrational tendency since London is the capital of both the united countries of the area and England. Not to mention the plethora of legendary sights and the unique experiences you can see and do in this capital.
However, London is not the sole awesome city that deserves a place on your travel list. In this article, we are going to mention four of our favourite cities in the United Kingdom that we believe that they deserve the same hype as London.
City 1: Liverpool
If you are a football or a Beatles fan, then you know Liverpool. It is a harbour city in the west of England. Two of the greatest football teams of the country are based in Liverpool, Liverpool and Everton. Of course, each team has its own home stadium; If you are an Everton supporter, you can tour the Goodison Park while if you love Liverpool, you can visit Anfield. It goes without saying that nothing stops you from touring both stadiums. Other important spots to go to are the Beatles Story museum, the Royal Albert Dock, the Victoria Gallery and Museum.
City 2: Edinburgh
You may be surprised to see Edinburgh on this list since it is the capital of Scotland. Well, did you know that unlike other capitals, Edinburgh is not the most populated city in the country? Glasgow is in the lead in that respect. Although Glasgow is indeed a beautiful city to live in, it is hard not to spend hours and hours raving about Edinburgh. A stroll at the city centre is enough to leave any visitor speechless thanks to its impressive, Gothic architecture. Besides gazing at buildings, you should visit Edinburgh Castle, wander around the Royal Botanic Garden and go shopping at the iconic Victoria Street.
City 3: Bangor
Moving to Northern Ireland, Bangor is a beautiful, coastal town that mesmerises all its visitors. It is pretty close to the capital of the country, Belfast, so you can travel there for even a few hours if you have your own vehicle. If you don’t, you can easily hire one with the help of Enjoy Travel, as you can not only compare car characteristics and prices of the available vehicles in the area but also complete your booking online. Once you get to Bangor, you should visit the Eisenhower Pier, the Castle Park and North Down Museum of Bangor Castle.
City 4: Newport
It would be impossible not to mention a city in Wales. It was hard to pick only one, but Newport was the one that made it in the end. The River Usk, that passes through the city and joins the waters at the Bristol Channel, is one of the major sights of the city as you can even go on a boat cruise. Other fun activities in Newport include visiting the Tredegar House, educating yourself at the National Roman Legion Museum and letting nature impress you at the Newport Wetlands Reserve.
