Half term has arrived!
February is normally a month where we go away, but we made the decision that with restrictions still a bit up and down in other countries that we would stay at home. That is not to say we didn’t have any adventures planned though.
Here is our week:
Sunday 20th February
After Storm Eunice on Friday it was still very wet and blustery so we cancelled our planned walk and stayed at home. We did, however, venture out to take Isaac to his swim club and took a brief stroll along the cliff tops whilst he swam, nearly getting blown away in the process.
Monday 21st February
I was asked to go into work on Monday morning, due to staff absence, but in the afternoon we took advantage of the Groupon Odeon offer and headed to the cinema to see Sing 2.
It is a brilliant, feel good film that we all enjoyed. I think Sebby danced pretty much the whole way through – thank goodness the cinema was almost empty!
Tuesday 22nd February
One of the Mum’s at school has a farm that offers Alpaca Walking in Wimborne and we have been itching to do it for ages, so I booked in for half term.
It is only a 15 minute drive from our house and the kids loved it – in fact, we have booked again for their Easter Egg hunt in April.
Not only did we walk the Alpaca’s, but we also fed them and the farm’s other animals too.
Wednesday 23rd February
We were supposed to visit Winchester Science Centre at the end of January, but had to postpone it due to COVID running through the family, so I rebooked it for this week.
There are several different areas to explore, including sound, hearing and vibration, space and bringing research to life, which shows real life discoveries that are being made in universities right now and the kids loved getting stuck in with the various experiments and exhibits, although it was the live science shows filled with fire and explosions that really got their attention.
Thursday 24th February
We had planned a walk today, but the weather wasn’t good, so we ended up chilling at home for the day, watching the workmen replace the neighbours fence, which came down last weekend.
This little robin was keeping an eye on proceedings too.
Friday 25th February
Finally, the day of our half term surprise had arrived……………to a Legoland holiday’s break with Holiday Extra’s.
As they are open reduced hours for winter, we arrived for opening time with a plan to do all our favourite rides and their new Mythica land.
The kids adored the new Sky Lion ride, which saw us soaring through a new Lego world, as well as some of their old favourites. If you visit, make sure you download the Legoland app for their AR experience.
I had promised a visit to the Lego shop, but the queue was longer than it had been for most rides, so we headed towards our base for the weekend – the Residence Inn in Slough. What I didn’t realise is that because we were on a LEGO break, the kids were treated to some LEGO in our room.
Saturday 26th February
We had another fairly early start and took the train from Slough into London.
The plan was to get on the Thames Clipper and head up the river with stops are HMS Belfast, Cutty Sark and finally the ArcelorMittal Orbit Slide.
On paper, my timings looked perfect and we should have got to each place on time, however, I didn’t account for the boats being full, which put us back. Thankfully, all our planned stops still let us in, despite running half an hour behind.
The highlight of the day was the ArcelorMittal Orbit Slide – so much fun, although I am not sure about the outfit.
How was your week?
Wow a fun packed busy week for sure, I’d love to walk Alpacas, been on my bucket list for a long time, some amazing photos and glad you all had a great time x
What a great week you had!
Ahh! I want to see Sing 2. Both my girls have seen it and said it was great.
What fun seeing the alpacas. It sounds like a fab trip out. It looks like you had a brilliant time at Legoland and what a treat when you got back to the hotel. x
You got so much in. That’s great to get Lego in the hotel.
I won tickets to the science centre so we’re going in April. Hopefully they’ve got the shows running then as I think N will like those. It’s a bit of a trek for us, but I’m sure we’ll get into Winchester to look around too.
Love the poncho, the colours are fab. Great capture of the robing and those lego creations are brill
Alpaca walking sounds lovely and fun. They seem very friendly, which means they are very well kept and well socialised. I went to an alpaca farm and they were prone to spitting.
Love the alpacas and Winchester Science Centre and Legoland are near the top of our bucket list. #project365
What a lovely half-term you had. We also saw Sing 2 over half-term and loved it and went to Legoland as well, but just for the day. The alpaca walking looked like a lot of fun as did the science centre. Love the photo of the robin. Sounds like you had a lovely day in London – not sure I’d be brave enough to go on the ArcelorMittal Orbit Slide but it sounds like it was fun. #project365
The Mythica land looks amazing!
Bee wants to watch Sing 2 but don’t really want to take the baby!
Oh we really want to go alpaca walking…looks so much fun!
Sounds like a wonderful week packed full of things to do. W loved the new legoland rides, hoping to go back again soon. The day out in London sounds great as well. I would really like to try the slide-out, although I am not sure I am brave enough it’s been on the bucket list for a while.
