We are on count down to half term here, we all need a break from homeschooling!
We always go away for February half term as it is cheaper than holidaying in the summer, so it feels strange not to have any plans. My facebook timehop is a bit depressing though, as I keep being presented with pictures of us enjoying various destinations.
We keep watching travels shows and this week saw the cruise ships that are still in Bournemouth Bay, which doesn’t help!
Here is our week:
Sunday 7th February
Our local walk along the River Stour at the Sang was closed as the river had burst its banks thanks to all the rain we have had recently, so we headed along the old golf course road instead. It is much better for scooting and cycling as its smooth and today the kids decided that they were going to have a race.
It was slightly unfair as Sebby was on his scooter, Eliza on her bike and Isaac decided to run, but they had fun nonetheless.
We are used to seeing sheep and horses on our walks, but today we spotted four gorgeous calves.
Monday 8th February
We have found our home schooling routine now and do live lessons in the morning and then head out for a walk in the early afternoon. The Sang was back open, if a little soggy, so we made sure we wore sensible shoes. Sebby also took his stomp rocket plane set with us, which does loop the loops and tricks.
After last weeks puddle fun, we bought Lilah a pair of wellies and let her loose in a giant puddle. I cannot wait for warmer weather, so she can really explore.
Tuesday 9th February
We went to bed all excited as we had a good chance of snow overnight. Sadly when we woke up, it was not to be. My husband took this tongue in cheek photo when he got to work.
Today is Safer Internet Day and the kids were learning all about as part of their home schooling. At lunchtime, I saw that Britmums were having a twitter party about baked potato’s.
I had actually cooked them for lunch, so decided to take part and add a couple of photo’s. I won £50 which was a nice bonus – I am going to treat myself to a new pair of Hotter Shoes, as mine current ones are falling apart.
Wednesday 10th February
Still no snow for us, which was disappointing, but a beautiful sunny day, so we headed out for a walk along the beach.
I don’t think the temperature got above 0°C, so it was a bit chilly, especially heading into the wind, but a lovely day to walk from Canford Cliffs, all the way up to the Sandbank’s Ferry.
On the way home we treated ourselves to a chippy lunch and some cakes from Patisserie Mark Bennett.
Thursday 11th February
A work day for me and we are gearing up for Valentine’s Day, so it is getting busy.
My only photo of the day was of Kian carrying the kids up to bed.
Friday 12th February
My husband was day off, so I tasked him with heading to M&S for their Valentine’s Meal Day. I got a message back saying he couldn’t park and their was a massive queue.
Thankfully he persevered and came home with some extra treats too.
Saturday 13th February
My husband had been dropping hints all week that he wanted to try the cronuts from Patisserie Mark Bennett, so I headed to my local one before work.
When I say local one, there are several and I drove past two with massive queues, before stopping at the one closest to work as its quietest.
OMG Tesco was busy. I ended up on he door all day and there were queues to get in until 6pm. I think mainly because people cannot eat out at the moment, so everyone was buying their special Valentine’s meals.
How has your week been?
Sounds like the shops were really busy for Valentine’s Day! My friend also said there was a massive queue at M&S in our town. Oh my goodness Lilah looks so cute in her diddy wellies!
Well done on your £50 win! It is a shame about not getting away for half term, it would be nice t escape somewhere different.
Well done on your win! We usually go away during February half term too and it is weird not going away.
Facebook time hops have been very depressing of late for sure.
Who has won the race? Well done on winning the BritMums twitter chat, I saw it, but didn’t join in, as my guys refuse to eat jacket potatoes. sigh.
Lilah looks so cute, jumping in the puddle.
M&S chocolate cakes look tasty. Love your coffee and tea jars! And the waves splashing into the rocks are awesome. I’d so love to have a walk on the beach and breathe in the salty air.
It looks like the kids had fun on their bikes and scooters.
hahaha! That photo of the snow, or lack of it did make me chuckle. We must have got your share here.
Well done on your win. We’re having jacket potatoes tonight for tea. x
How lovely to see the calves while out on your walk. We were disappointed not to get more snow – we only had a dusting too. Lovely to have a walk along the beach and love the Colin and Connie Caterpillar treats. Hope you have a nice half-term. #project365
That looks like a lovely walk, the ground looks good for walking on as in not muddy, hope the puddles weren’t too deep. Had to laugh at your husband surviving the snow storm lol. Great win, enjoy your new boots
We only had a dusting of snow here too. Sound slike the shops were a bit manic. I want to try cronuts, but don’t know anyone round here who sells them.
Such a cool photo project and looks like you have made the most of the dry weather lately – the snow pic made me laugh lol

Love the sarcastic snow measurement! It was almost continual for 4 days here but didn’t even cover the ground! I was counting down the days to half term but the actual holiday is whizzing by 🙁 #project365
Looks like you managed to get out and about a lot this week. I do think getting out makes all the difference. I really wanted to make it to M&S but couldn’t fit it in. Hope you had a good meal. I feel like it has been a lot busier all over recently.
I guess the downside to living near the coast is the lack of snow, my Uncle lives in Kent and was expecting loads and had none at all. Can’t beat a puddle for fun #365
The M&S meal deal looked really good we had the ASDA one. I’m thinking we need to travel in February half term more lol. I keep checking to see if the Disney Magic is still in Dover. It makes me very sad to see it is. I don’t think we will be sailing on her this year :0(. Congratulations on winning the prize too #365
Had to chuckle at the snow measurement! We were forecast a lot but didn’t get much either!
Well done on the win!
Your walk trails are so interesting and exciting. My kids would find it so happy and nice to have such beautiful trails (we live in the desert)
Oh gosh, yes! That excitement over the snow. We only got a teeny bit of a dusting, but it was the highlight of the week.
