How do you feel about your current bedroom setup? Maybe you’re sleeping in a nicely decorated and cosy room. Maybe you’re in a tiny room, and have to make do. Or maybe you’re sleeping in the most weirdly shaped room you’ve ever come across! And in the long run, the latter option can be a huge problem…
Your bedroom needs to be a nice place to be, in order for you to relax and fall soundly asleep every night. And when you’re forced to make bed in a room that has an awkward shape to it, such as a hexagonal dimension or there’s a little alcove in the corner you’re not sure what to do with, you have to be creative with your bedroom’s layout.
Don’t Be Afraid to Slant Your Decor
The decor in your hexagonal or spiky shaped room can feel like it doesn’t fit. That plant doesn’t quite complement that wall, and that rug is too big to sit right on the floor over there… You can feel really fed up of trying to find the right decor combination!
However, you should start thinking about ‘slanting’ your decor – especially that rug you want your bed to lie on top of. Orient it diagonally to make it fit the space better, and give you something warm and comfy to put your toes on in the morning!
Don’t Worry About the Wardrobe
The wardrobe you’re planning in fitting into your weirdly shaped room isn’t quite the right fit, is it? It’s jutting out from one wall or another, and making it much harder to walk around the bed or get to the door, etc. But you know you need a wardrobe – it’s one of the best ways to store items clean and neat as well as keep them out of the way. What are you supposed to do?
Well, it’s time to think about ordering a custom wardrobe. Otherwise known as fitted wardrobes, these storage solutions can fit into any and all spaces you have to make use of, without worry of ruining the look and/or function of the rest of the room. Plus, you’ll have a very unique wardrobe to boast about!
Use the Entire Space
And finally, don’t discount that alcove just because it’s awkwardly shaped – there’s loads of things you could fit in there! A bookshelf or a table or even a window seat or simple chair; all of these items are great for taking up the space that would just be cold or negative otherwise.
And when there’s more things pushed into the alcove, that gives you more room in the main area. That means less traffic and better function overall, and a healthier bedroom to fall asleep in.
Your bedroom has an awkward shape to it, but you can work with this! Make sure you orientate your decor right, as well as use all the space available to you, and even think about getting some custom furniture made up.
