Project 365 2021: Week Three

My husband is enjoying his new job, but his hours have changed already. Because of the COVID situation the store has split itself into two bubbles, which means he is day in, then day off, day in, day off etc. It does mean a shorter working week day side, but he still does the same hours, so is working longer days.

Other than that, there is no real change to our situation at the moment.

Here is our week:

Sunday 17th January

I love non-school days as the kids are much happier, without having the threat of structured lessons spoiling their day. They would still spend most of it on technology given half the chance, so we dragged them out the house for a walk.

Den

We headed to St Catherine’s Hill, just outside Christchurch and the kids loved updating some of the dens and playing in them.

Kids in a den

From the top of the hill there are views of the Avon Valley, all the way to Christchurch and even the Isle of Wight on a clear day.

Avon Valley

Despite their initial grumbles, the kids loved being out and it was nice to explore somewhere new, even if it is just a short drive from home.

Monday 18th January

I look after my granddaughter, Lilah, every Monday, which is a bit of a challenge to combine with home schooling.

Lilah lesson

For Sebby’s English lesson, his teacher was reading a story and Lilah watched transfixed from beginning to end. Thankfully, I have Kian home too, and he is happy to be a welcome distraction whilst the kids do their lessons.

Tower

It has only been a couple of weeks of looking after her and she wasn’t feeling a nap in her travel cot, so we headed out for a walk to see the sheep, in the hope she would nod off – she never did see the sheep!

Lilah Buggy

Tuesday 19th January

I looked after Lilah again today and because of my husband’s shift change he was home too. Lilah adores him and kept going to the window to watch him as he sorted out the garden.

Peekaboo

Today we had success with Lilah sleeping in her cot. I think the kids wore her out!

Wednesday 20th January

A work day for me and when I finished I had to go to the Doctors for my Shingles vaccination. I don’t think I have ever seen the surgery so eerie and quiet.

GP Surgery

Thursday 21st January

I think the whole world breathed a sigh of relief when Donald Trump finally left the White House. There were lots of memes going around, this one was my favourite by far – even the kids were singing it.

Friday 22nd January

I worked late night to help cover absence, so had the morning to myself. As the weather was so nice, I decided to see if it was possible to walk over the Heath to Isaac’s school.

Canford Heath

The pathways were quite muddy and its a good 50 minute walk, so not something he could do in the winter, but once the weather warms up I would be happy for him to cycle it with friends.

Poole

It also offers stunning views over Poole harbour towards the Purbecks.

Saturday 23rd January

Eliza’s birthday eve and she got to decide where we were going for a walk.

River Stour

She decided on Stour Valley Way and although we new the river was swollen, we weren’t expecting it to be quite so flooded. It did make for some excellent puddle jumping photo’s though.

Puddle Jumping

On the way back, we were treated to watching a cormorant catching a huge fish in a lake.

Lake

We all had soggy socks at the end of the walk though!

  1. I am glad your husband is enjoying his new job.
It looks like you had a great walk out on Sunday! What a fab place to explore and amazing views!
Lilah looks like she was so engrossed in Sebby’s lesson. How cute!
Happy birthday to Eliza for tomorrow. I hope she has a great day x

  2. Wonderful views over the valley, and some fantastic dens! I try to get Eddie out of the house every day, weather permitting. With the remote learning our kids spend way too much time online. Love the photo of a jump over the water – great capture!
It must be not easy to watch over a tot and supervise home-schooling.
Eddie always felt asleep in the pushchair, especially in Waitrose for some reason.
Also many thanks for all the PoGo interaction – Eddie is delighted to have more friends to exchange gifts with.

  3. Your granddaughter is adorable. We always had issues with sleep and travel cots. Well, we always have issues with sleep lol. It looks like you have some lovely local places to go for a walk. We are getting a bit bored of our walks but doing our best to stay local and not use the car. Ethan is missing the beach #365

  4. My youngest use to have issues with travel cots too. Looks like you managed it in the end. It must be tough juggling everything. I think wet and muddy walks have become synonymous with January this year. Hope Eliza had a lovely birthday that welly photo is brilliant.

  5. The kids look like they had fun in the dens. It does make such a difference to get outside at the moment, doesn’t it? I love the photo of Lilah being transfixed by Sebby’s English lesson. The Donald Trump meme made me laugh – I haven’t seen that one before. Hope Eliza had a lovely birthday. #project365

  6. Such beautiful surroundings to escape in to. I think the water is supposed to stay outside the wellies though. Well done on achieving naps!

  7. I love the shot of the water pouring out of the boot! The sign of a great puddle jumping session!

This week has been a bit of a blur, my son turned 13 and then I spent a few hours in A&E after falling down the stairs! Nothing broken but a few days on the sofa with my feet up!
Onwards and upwards (and minimal stairs!) for the week ahead. Have a good one x x

  8. You live in a beautiful part of the world, the views from Christchurch are stunning, wouldn’t have thought you could have seen as far as the Avon Valley. Guess it makes a lot of sense to work day on day off with the same staff members each week in. abubble, should cut down a small amount on contact. How old is Lilah? I’m assuming she is your granddaughter

  9. When I saw ChristChurch I thought you were in New Zealand. I am assuming there is a Christchurch in the UK too.

the baby peering on to the online class screen is a daily thing at my home too. My friend remarks it is a buy one get one offer on education 😀

    The outside looks so beautiful!
