Project 365 2020 Week 48 & 49

I have been so busy, I missed my week 47 post, so I have decided to do the two weeks together.

2nd December was the end of lockdown 2 and it felt like the nation breathed a collective sigh of relief. We also have news that the new vaccine is being rolled out from 8th December, but only for the over 80’s and care home workers. It is going to be a long time before everything goes back to normal, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Here is our two weeks:

Sunday 22nd November

My first day off in three weeks and I really needed it!

We love exploring our local county of Dorset and one place we always drive past and say we must visit is Arne Nature Reserve.

Climbing-Trees

It is a beautiful place to visit and we enjoyed a walk along the trail to Shipstal Beach.

Shipstal Beach

On the way back to the carpark, my husband spotted a deer hiding in a bush. It was one of those comedy moment where he is furiously pointing and I just could not see it. Thankfully, once its white, heart shaped bottom started bouncing across the field, I managed to get some pictures and we were very excited when it was joined by another deer.

Sika-Deer-Arne

Monday 23rd November

Back to work at the school for me today and the kids and I were all entertained by a very lively squirrel who was racing through the trees. When I left work, it followed me to the school gates and then leapt back into the trees.

Squirrel

Can you spot it?

Tuesday 24th November

Work again in the morning and then it was an afternoon of frustration for me.

The boys want the XBox Series X for Christmas and I missed the pre-orders. I found out that Curry’s were releasing stock at 1pm and had my laptop open with the link set. I managed to get one in my basket, but when I went to checkout it kept saying basket empty.

Laptop

I persevered for over an hour before seeing a message pop up that they had sold out.

Wednesday 25th November

Work again, but in the evening I caught up on another review of the ESET Internet Safety Matters for kids.

ESET Workbook

The kids loved completing the workbook and I found it great for opening up a conversation with them. Eliza even designed her own poster which she took into school the next day.

Thursday 26th November

Work at the supermarket today and I got a real bargain ready for next year’s Halloween. This Werewolf costume was reduced to 4p!!

Costume

Friday 27th November

There was a Krispie Kreme event today and we got some free ones for the staff restaurant. Well, it would have been rude not to, wouldn’t it?

Krispi Kreme

Saturday 28th November

As part of my new job role, I get to help organise all the Christmas fun for the staff and we had a meeting about what we were going to do. COVID has means we can’t do a lot of things, but I am hoping they still enjoy all the things we have planned.

Sunday 29th November

Yet another work day for me, but when I got home it was operation Christmas tree. In true man style, my husband was very proud that he put the tree up, but it looked a bit threadbare – turns out he hadn’t opened the branches!!

Christmas Tree

It’s not a real tree this year, but I am very happy with it!

Monday 30th November

Double work for me today with preschool in the morning and Tesco in the afternoon which mean’t that Abbey was on school pick up duty, so I get to see Lilah when I got home.

Lilah

We blocked off the Christmas tree to stop her getting to it, but she was content to sit and stare at it.

Tuesday 1st December

Happy Birthday Mum!!

Uh Oh!! Look who is back……..

Elf on the Shelf

Wednesday 2nd December

Anyone would think lockdown is over with the amount of traffic on the roads!!

I love blogging for introducing me to new brands. In October, I read about Protest, who design and make sportswear, specialising in ski wear.

Protest Kids Coat

They contacted me at the end of November to work with them and sent me this beautiful coat for Eliza to review. Eliza is over-the-moon with it – might have to get the ladies version for me.

Thursday 3rd December

A full day at the supermarket for me today and you can tell everyone is starting to gear up for Christmas. The kids are loving finding our elf, although it hasn’t been naughty…….yet.

Elf

Friday 4th December

Another Tesco day and I ended up doing a split shift. I left the kids watching Christmas Chronicles 2, whilst I headed back in for the evening shift.

Christmas Chronicles

My husband got some good news – he had a successful interview and is starting a new job in the new year. It is a real weight off our shoulders and will hopefully mean that I don’t have to work quite so many hours.

Saturday 5th December

Visits to see Father Christmas are not on this year, so we did the next best thing, arranged a zoom call with Santa.

SEA LIFE knows that this year the festive season is going to be very different especially for those in locked-down areas but are determined not to let the pandemic spoil one of the most wonderful times of the year, so they’ve launched an exciting new virtual Santa experience that brings Santa right into the comfort of your own home.

Zoom with Santa

The kids loved seeing and speaking to Santa and his cheeky elves, although Sebby threw a curve ball and asked for something completely different!!
