Wow, 23 weeks since initial lockdown.
In some ways it has sped past and in other ways it feels like it is dragging. There is no real news this week, other to say that we are glad we cancelled our visit to France at the end of next week as they have now imposed a 14 day quarantine when you get back.
We have kept our booked time of work though as we have worked all the way through lockdown and really need a break.
Here is our week:
Sunday 16th August
Still none of the thunderstorms they promised, although we did get a few heavy showers. It was a work day for me and the shop was unusually quiet for a Sunday, probably as the weather was a bit hit and miss.
When I got home, I walked Eliza round to her friends house so she could give her a coding bracelet she had made as a present.
Monday 17th August
Another full day at work for me, an unusually I was on the early, so Abbey came to the rescue to look after the kids.
The kids had a lovely day playing with Lilah and trying to teach her to crawl.
Tuesday 18th August
My day off and the kids had a Smiggle Gift card burning a hole in their pockets, so we headed into Bournemouth to see what goodies we could find.
Sebby had his heart set on a shark lunchbox, but with the school saying their want kids lunches in plastic bags and no school bags allowed in either, we managed to persuade him to choose something else. They came out with quite a haul, which included new drinks bottles and a couple of squishies.
Once they had chosen their bits, we headed off in search of some birthday presents for Kian, before heading to Starbucks to take advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Eliza had her first Starbucks, a Chocolate Marshmallow S’mores Frappuccino (without the coffee).
It is safe to say it won’t be her last – she loved it.
Wednesday 19th August
We got an exciting new toy in the post today and the kids could not wait to go outside to play with it.
The Stomp Rocket is super fun – you simply run, jump and stomp to launch rockets up to 200ft in the air. After struggling to get them out the house, suddenly they didn’t want to come home!!
Thursday 20th August
Kian’s 20th birthday!! I worked the early shift and was home by lunchtime when we gave Kian his presents, which he opened with a little help from Sebby.
Lilah marked the occasion by playing with the wrapping paper and with a little encouragement from the room, she started crawling!!
In the evening we headed out to Piccolo Mondo, a lovely family run restaurant in Wimborne, where we enjoyed some delicious homemade Italian food.
It was our first meal out as a family since lockdown and they made us feel at ease the entire time, with well thought out social distancing and plenty of additional safety measures.
Kian’s is the last birthday of the year, with the exception of new addition Lilah, so now I turn my attentions to Christmas.
Friday 21st August
Storm Ellen has officially hit with high winds and torrential rain. Our garden backs into the local park which has huge pine trees which overhang the garden – sadly this means that our garden is now buried pine needles!
I took advantage of the inclement weather caught up with some outstanding reviews, including my review of my new Fiji Sandals from Hotter Shoes.
Saturday 22nd August
It is still windy, but we are having our new doors painted, so I took the kids out for a long walk to keep them out the way of the decorator.
We were a little disappointed that the ice cream man wasn’t there, so we settled for milk shakes instead.
How was your week?
It is crazy to think it’s been 23 weeks since the first lockdown. I think it has flown over.
Lovley photos.
Ahh! My girls both love Smiggle, my youngest especially! She would happily buy everything given the chance. That shark lunchbox is cool.
Aww! Well done Lilah with the crawling! How adorable.
Happy birthday to Kian. x
My kids made me buy all their school equipment in Smiggle, then I re-read the newsletter and found the school are supplying everything!
It looks like a lovely family week. We went to a family wedding and I also had a week away in Kent with my Mum and the kids. Much needed before school goes back.
Lovely family photos. We have been mostly indoors this week, we’ve not really been up to much a lot of sorting out indoors and making sure uniform fits. But we are getting a train into London tomorrow to see an exhibition.
Erin loves stationery now so I bet she would love a trip to Smiggle. Looks fun!
Ah lovely week. Time has just flown over lockdown hasn’t I? The rocket looks like so much fun and Lilah crawling is amazing too! x
That Stomp Rocket looks so fun! Love the items the kids got from Smiggle too!
