The introduction of compulsory masks in shops has arrived and it seems that the majority of people have accepted it, with a mere grumble.
I worked my first proper shopfloor shift wearing one last weekend and I have to admit that I got so hot that I felt ill, but I will persevere. Luckily we don’t have to wear them if we are behind screens, which is a relief.
The end of the week has seen restrictions on household contact in the North West as cases rise again and businesses that were allowed to open from 1st August (Casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks) have been told they must remain closed for at least another two weeks. The R rate has increased in the south-west to over 1, so I am waiting to see if restrictions tighten here too.

Sunday 26th July
With my husband, Kian and me all at work, Abbey kindly stepped in and looked after the kids for me and took them out to her local park.
Lilah loves having the kids around her and even Sebby is starting to bond with her now which is lovely.

Monday 27th July
Changing our internal doors has been on our home “to-do” list since we moved in 15 years ago and we have finally got them done this week.
Because I work twilight shifts at the moment, I am not quite on the ball in the morning and the man who was fitting our doors took over the kitchen before I had a chance to make the kids breakfast. He suggested I get the kids McDonald’s and it was a real hit with all of them!!
I ordered it on the app and it was ready and waiting for me as I drove up and was still hot when I got home.
Tuesday 28th July
A big day for Isaac today, back to swimming, although not as we know it.
I was a little worried that he wouldn’t like the change, as they arrive ready to swim and then are called into the leisure centre unaccompanied via a register and then positioned in the pool, but he actually preferred it. It was a little bizarre not getting to watch him train and taking him home in his wet swimwear, I hope this changes before it gets cold……luckily we live a five minute drive away.
The evening involved even more water, for Isaac and Scott’s 12th belated birthday celebrations at Splashdown Waterpark. Thanks to Kian’s insider information, we booked an evening slot for them as it is very quiet and they had the place almost to themselves. They rounded off the evening with a McDonald’s treat, dining al fresco in the carpark as the restaurants are closed.
Wednesday 29th July
I spent the morning catching up with some blog reviews and then headed out to work.
Abbey was on hand to babysit again and this time it was Eliza’s turn to swim. Like Isaac, she loved being back in the pool and was very relieved that her favourite coach was teaching her.
Thursday 30th July
Feeling a bit glum today, we should have been play car jenga and heading off for 4 days of fun at Camp Bestival. It doesn’t help that the last 7 years we have been keep popping up in my memories, plus the weather would have been perfect! My hours at work are starting to change as I am working more around my husband and Kian’s shifts now, so Thursday and Friday’s are now full days for me.
Whilst I was at work, they all headed to Nanny’s house and played football in the garden with their Uncle Mark. I am reliably informed that the team containing Sebby, Kian and Isaac won against Mark and Eliza.
Friday 31st July
Again, a work day for me so Dad was in charge. Eliza had her final swimming session of the week, which she enjoyed and then more water in the form of the hot tub.
Saturday 1st August
It feels like forever since I had the weekend off and we decided to make the most of the sunshine and took the kids strawberry picking.
Abbey met us there with Lilah and we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was.
The kids could not wait to get started and eagerly filled their punnets with the best strawberries they could find.
Lilah on the other hand was more interested in sampling their finds, washed first of course.
Once we had our strawberries, we headed off to find corn on the cob and some raspberries to take home, spotting lots of fabulous wildlife as we did, including butterflies, ladybirds and even a field mouse.
Let’s hope the weather stays nice for the rest of the weekend.

I’ve noticed many more people wearing masks in town, probably not wanting to touch the masks between the shops. It was so hot yesterday, wearing a mask the whole day would be unbearable. Lovely to go to pick your own. Lilah is a cutie. Sounds like the swimming went well for everyone.

The strawberry picking looks good. I think it’s well over by now here. Glad swimming’s back and ok. We’ve not heard anything about ours (just lessons not club swimming), and had hoped they’d do catch ups over the summer, but I think it’s still off because the school hasn’t been open.
Glad Isaac has been able to get back in the pool and you’ve had a few more normal moments in with all the chaos. I must have the only child in the world who isn’t that keen on Maccie D’s! #366
How lovely for the kids to have a day with Abbey and Lilah. Glad Isaac and Eliza were able to be back at swimming – I think it will be a while yet before Sophie’s swimming lessons start up again. Such a busy week. I feel for people who have to wear masks for their work, it’s not the same as just popping it on to go to a store then taking it off again. It must take a lot of getting used to. I cannot wait to take my little one berry picking once she’s old enough, I love that photo of her eating the strawberry. Fabulous news that they can go swimming again!

Wow that’s a busy week!! I’ve missed going strawberry picking this year so def going to try and do them pumpkin patch this year.
I have the same issue with masks they make me feel so hot which in turn makes me feel ill. Luckily I don’t have to spend long in one though, so always make sure I wear one.
It sounds like you have had a lovely week – I often wonder about getting a hot tub myself.
I think everyone is used to wearing masks , its going to be a norm that we will have to get used to it, after all it is for our safety.

Looks a busy week, i havent been strawberry picking in years, we have a done a couple of bits but with everything still going and potentially gettting woorse again its been a struggle to really start planning days put etc, I work in a shop and to be honest there are people not wearing masks, which is annoying.
Sounds like you had a really busy week! I’m with you on the masks at work. It’s not fun wearing them for over 9 hours a day but needs must!
I would love to take the boys strawberry picking. I must check to see where our local strawberry field is.
I am glad you were able to get that home renovation done. Oh, and your strawberry picking day with the family! Such a lovely day. Beautiful weather too. It has been a while since we were able to drive up north for strawberry picking. Maybe after restrictions in our area is lifted, we could do that again.
Looks like you have had another fantastic week with your family enjoying the strawberry picking, trip to the park and hot tub. We are hoping to stop by McDonalds when we get the chance as well as we still not had the chance to.
The restrictions here are relaxing by 10th August to let people earn through their businesses. They both look adorable! Great to have pending housework done. The kids really must’ve enjoyed having the kitchen closed. It must be awesome to spend a birthday at a waterpark. That’s a nice big ground for a football match. OoOoo Strawberry picking. Things haven’t changed too much in the North West, despite the new partial lockdown. People are still going about their daily business. Even I managed to escape to the pub last night! Hope you have all had a nice week! Sim x

Bee’s swimming hasn’t restarted as where she goes is a school pool and they haven’t opened up yet. But I think it would be a nightmare bringing her home in her wet outfit…so am kind of glad it hasn’t started.

We are going fruit picking this week and can’t wait.
Swimming for us has also changed. Thankfully they are letting kids get changed to go home but they can’t shower and I have to wear a mask to collect them which is fun in the changing room area where it’s a bit sweaty.

We went to a PYO for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely to be out and about surrounded by nature, and tasty fruit of course! We had our first McD since February yesterday and it was glorious! #project366
