Hello and welcome to this weeks update.
I have decided to change my weeks to run from Sunday – Saturday, so my weekly posts don’t clash with my Silent Sunday pictures.
It is officially the school Easter holidays and we have been relaxing the schoolwork this week, although I am slightly concerned it will make it harder to reinstate later.
Monday 6th April
With my husband and I both working opposite shifts it does feel like we don’t see each other much at the moment, so it was nice to actually spend the day with him, even if it was catching up on household chores.
We did manage a walk on the heath with all the kids, this time taking a different route to our usual circuit. We found a cattle grid and the kids had fun trying to balance across it, although Sebby did manage to lose his footing and fall in.
Tuesday 7th April
With us both working a full day shift, Kian was left in charge of the kids for the day.
They are all keen Pokemon Go players, so there was much excitement when they discovered that a new Poke Stop had been installed within reaching distance from the garden. I asked how they managed it, but it seems it wasn’t any of them, so whoever managed to suggest this new location – thank you.
Wednesday 8th April
If you have been following my updates, you will know that we have been decorating our porch with rainbow pictures, and today we got a note through the door from our postman, which I thought was a really lovely touch.
We mixed up our walk today and took our scooters out instead. I have not ridden mine for a couple of years and boy, my legs were aching afterwards but it was lots of fun nonetheless.
One of our jobs on Monday was sorting out our Lay-Z-Spa hot tub and today it was finally warm enough to use. Guess who got first dibs!
Thursday 9th April
Today is was like people had only just realised it is Easter at the weekend. The roads were so much busier than they have been in recent weeks and the shops were extremely busy, with customers clearing shelves by lunchtime – this is the photo my husband sent me when I messaged him to pick up some eggs!
Today is my first day off in 19 days and the first time that the reality of the situation really hit me. I tend to thrive on “getting on with it”, so stopping, even for a day, was a bit of a struggle.
The weather has been glorious, so we spent some time in the garden and Isaac was over the moon to discover we had another visitor.
This little field mouse was busy dining on dropped seeds and nuts under the bird box and was completely unfazed by our presence.
Friday 10th April – Good Friday
Another full work day for me and the store was fairly busy until early evening. People seem to be understanding the store rules better, although we did see a real influx of people trying to shop in groups and there are too many people just stood in the middle of an aisle browsing, which really holds up the flow of customers in the shop as they cannot get round them. Shopping appears to be the new “going out”.
Sebby has discovered the delights of chatting to his friends on facebook messenger when they are playing games. The only problem with this is that my phone was being used to play music over the tannoy at work and then it kept ringing #oops
The kids also finished decorating our apple tree in our front garden.
Saturday 11th April
Late night for me today, so I took the kids out for a walk earlier than usual. The weather was well into the mid-20’s and I wish I had worn shorts.
We chose another different route and saw a handful of people as we walked, who all commented on our bunny ears. The lambs on the other hand, were a little confused and kept staring.
My husband arrived home with some fetching new uniform – the jury’s still out to see if it works.
How has your week been?
It’s nice to see some big smiles. The warm weather and Easter treats really help to keep spirits up don’t they? And that note from the postie is adorable!
I said to the kids this week they didn’t have to do any school work as it’s the Easter holidays but my youngest has been doing little bits. Phew!
That’s a shame you are not seeing much of your hubby at the moment. I bet you do appreciate the little time you do spend together more.
Aww! That is so sweet of the postman to leave a note.
How cool to have a hot tub. It’s just what you need in the weather we’ve had the last couple of days.
Your Easter tree looks fab! What a great idea! x
The hot tub looks amazing. I would love to have one of those in my garden
What a lovely note from the postman. I could do with getting out my scooter as well, although there’s nowhere to scoot except the road here at the moment. People were saying the shops here were mad this week too – everyone shopping for the bank holiday on top of their normal shops I suppose. Have a good easter.
Seems strange to me that people are treating going to the shops as an outing when I am doing all I can to avoid going very often. Good news about the pokestop – we have a gym accessible from out house.
Ooooo what is your Pokemon code?
What lovely sunny photos. The weather has been amazing, hasn’t it? It’s good to hear that most people are getting the hang of the shopping rules. I haven’t been myself for over a week, but at that time I was still finding there were certain areas that got crowded.
What a great idea to get the kids outside and active. Looks like everyone had a wonderful time. The sunshine is beautiful and your photos too.
We’ve been playing a lot of Pokemon Go too, definitely helps to keep the kids active
Our week has mostly been spent out in the garden enjoying the sunshine. The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt today which was a lot of fun.
I love this post, it’s so nice to read some postive things online at the moment. Falling in the cattle grid happens to the best of us! I love the apple tree too, it looks so festive and cheery. Also HOW LOVELY IS YOUR POST MAN? <3
Love the Easter tree decorations and your husbands new work shirt, fingers crossed it works. I noticed Thursday was much busier on the roads round our way also
Aww, what a lovely post. It’s nice to read something positive. Oh, I have fallen in a cattle gride before too. The tree looks lovely and what a nice postman you have xx
What beautiful places you have for walks near you. Love the photo of the field mouse and how lovely to get a note from your postman. I’m envious of your hot tub! Looks like you had a lovely Easter weekend. #project366
Wow it sounds like you have been working all hours. Like the new uniform hope it encourages people to do as they should. so nice of the postie to take the effort to leave a note. Love the look of the hot tub I have been trying to convince the husband that we need one. Its not worked yet… but I am not going to give up x
The empty supermarket shelves are quite scary. We have started going for walks now that my asthma has calmed down: I might get the Pokemon game to encourage the kids to enjoy being out and about a bit more #project366
I really really want a hot tub. Husband is not keen. I need to work on him on that. Love that the postie loved your rainbow.
Sorry for the delayed comment. The week caught up with me!
Great to spend time with your family. That’s a lovely place for a walk. Aww i knew kids who played Pokemon Go a few years ago; surprising to see its active. How sweet of the mailman. There’s still one case of eggs, get it!
Would love to have a hot tub in the garden!
Thats lovely of the postie to leave that note.
Some lovely walks managed this week!
It sounds like you have some great routes to walk (or scoot!) near you and I think the nice weather has been a bit of a saviour for lots of us as its meant we can still get out for a daily walk. Loving your bunny ears and I think your husbands uniform looks fab, I hope people listen! x
