It is the end of December and it is safe to say it has been a very busy month for us as a family.
I love the build up to Christmas, with the kids attending various events and this year is a bittersweet one for us as it is Sebby’s last year in KS1 and therefore his last Nativity.
This year he starred (literally) as the Star of Bethlehem in their play: Lights, Camel, Action which saw the Nativity story transformed into a dazzling dance show, complete with a Strictly style judging panel.
Sebby initially found learning the words tricky, but with a little help from Isaac and Eliza, he amazed us with his confident performance that had us bursting with pride.
Isaac took part in a swimming gala at Millfield School in Somerset, whilst I had my first role as a J1 Official having qualified a couple of weeks before. He may not have medalled, but he smashed all his times and has been selected to take part in the Novice League in January.
Our other big news is that our family has increased in size, with the arrival of our first grandchild!!
I was very honoured to be invited to accompany Abbey and Paul for the baby’s arrival. Seeing labour and birth from the sidelines gave me a new respect for birthing partners and for the wonder of women’s bodies and what we go through.
Lilah Kathleen arrived at 18:02 on 10th December 2019 and weighed in at 7lb 8oz and I want to say a massive thank you to the midwifery team at Poole Maternity Unit, especially Maddie, Kinga and Lucy who were hugely supportive throughout the whole process.
Abbey and Paul have settled into parenthood well and I love being Nana already – I get all the benefits of baby cuddles and none of the sleepless nights!!
The kids all adore their new roles as Uncles and Aunties and I have a feeling that Lilah is going to be one spoilt young lady.
Christmas was a quiet affair for us this year – well as quiet as a family as large as ours can be and it was great to have all the kids in the same place at the same time.
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year!!
I must also say a big thank you to Hey Little You Studios for the beautiful pregnancy photoshoot and Lilah’s first photoshoot images.
That’s so exciting and what a great end to the year. I was the same with my little Miss last nativity too xxx
She’s so beautiful. Massive congratulations. It gave me goosebumps to read – what an amazing experience being there for the birth. And well done to Sebby for what sounds a Stirling performance.
How wonderful! Many congratulations on becoming a Nana! Lilah looks precious – the perfect gift. I know how you feel when the kids start growing up and you realise this is the last nativity play.
Well done Sebby. It sounds like he was the star of the show!
Aww! Congratulations on becoming a grandparent.
