I still remember the National Lottery being launched and the learning curve of how to use the machine and pay out any winnings.
It is scary to think that it is now celebrating its 25th birthday and they have come up with a brilliant way to celebrate.
National Lottery funded projects and attractions are saying #ThanksToYou for the more than £40 billion you’ve raised for good causes over the past 25 years, by offering free entry or special offers at hundreds of venues from 23rd November to 1st December 2019 simply by presenting a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard.
How to see who is taking part
Simply head to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/projects/thanks-to-you and type in your location or postcode and it will show you the venues taking part in the project.
Locally, in Dorset, we have free cinema tickets available at Lighthouse Poole, free entry to Kingston Lacy and 2-for-1 entry at the Tank Museum, to name but a few.
Please check the venue listings for dates, times and other terms and conditions before you travel.
You can take a valid National Lottery ticket, scratchcard or proof of your online entry to take advantage of the offer.
I like the sound of the National Lottery’s #ThanksToYou campaign. Great to see them giving back to everyday people in this way.
I had no idea the lottery tickets could actually be used for something. Glad you posted this! Will need to tell my friend who usually plays
Bookmarked the good causes page for future reference. Thanks for sharing, I never knew this was a thing!
Love this campaign! We discovered that a arboretum (Westonbirt) which is local to us is part of this, offering free entry with a ticket etc which I think is amazing and I will definitely be taking the kids!
I’ve never heard of this before. Just had a look and there’s lot’s to do in Nottingham! Thanks for this. x
I have wanted to visit Kingston Lacey for a while, but the high price of the ticket always put me off. I will definitely take advantage of this campaign of the National Lottery and go visit for free.
That sounds like such a great way to celebrate! I can’t believe the National Lottery is 25 years old already.
I didn’t know that the National lottery had such a scheme. It sounds so good. I must check it out for my area.
The #ThanksToYou campaign has so many good deals! Hopefully I can find the time to make use of one of their museum exhibition offers before December 1st!
This is so good! I’ve just checked where I used to live and there are some fab offers
I had no idea about this campaign but it sounds amazing! I’ll definitely be checking it out – free days out are great!

Ooh I’ve just had a look to see what’s on in my local area, so many different activities to choose from.
That sounds like such a great way to celebrate!
