Isaac and Eliza swim at Littledown and we often find ourselves in Littledown Park afterwards, as they have a large adventure play area, paddling pool, duck pond and lots of wide pathways, perfect for scooting.
Altitude High Ropes is set towards the back of Littledown Park and the kids have been asking to take on the challenge for some time and on Friday, we finally did.
Altitude features five different challenges: Low Ropes, High Ropes, Zip Wire, Climbing Wall and Power Fan Descender and once we were kitted up, we started with the Low Ropes.
Children aged 5 and over can do the course, but must be accompanied by an adult, children aged 8 and over can do the course unaccompanied.
The Low Ropes course is set 5m above the ground and has nine different challenges including balance beams, a crawl tunnel, cargo net, log bridge and swinging logs.
Eliza, Connor and Ellie sailed round the low ropes course with no problem and promptly took on the blindfold challenge and attempted it again blindfolded, which they admitted was much harder!
Sebby found the course more challenging and need some encouragement to complete a couple of the challenges, but once he had done it once, he flew around the course again with much more confidence.
Once the kids had completed the Low Ropes course twice, it was time for the next challenge – the High Ropes!
The High Ropes challenge is not for the faint hearted and is a staggering 10m above the ground.
There are 12 testing elements including swinging tyres, Burma bridge, stepping stones, islands in the sky, a zip wire which lands you on a scramble net.
All four of my team took on the High Ropes, even little Sebby, and all admitted they found the course much more challenging than the Low Ropes course.
The biggest difference between the high and low ropes course was that the reach was a lot bigger, but the kids used their problem solving skills to help them get across, along with some advice and encouragement from the instructors.
The scramble net was the biggest hurdle they had to overcome but the proud look on their faces once they nailed it was priceless!!
If you think 10m is high, the next challenge took the kids even higher!!
The Altitude Power Fan Descender is 11.5m high and you literally step off a platform and take a vertical drop to the ground.
Once they were all safely on the ground, it was a climb back to the top to complete the 70m zip wire, which whizzes them over a lake – even the Heron looked on impressed.
Of course, Sebby did his best running man impression as he came down.
The final challenge of the day was to take on the climbing wall.
We spent around 3 hours doing the courses and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We will definitely be back with Isaac!
