Brilliant Brainz Magazine

My kids have a real thirst for knowledge and love to read.

Their teachers always encourage them to read a variety of different texts and although we regularly go to the library where they can choose comics as well as books, they still ask for expensive magazines full of adverts with plastic tat gifts when we visit the shops.

I was contacted by Eleanor, the creator of Brilliant Brainz’ magazine, to take a look at her new monthly magazine aimed at 6 – 12 year olds.

She started the Brilliant Brainz’ magazine for two reasons:

Firstly: There is a narrow focus on Maths and English in primary schools and the emphasis on exams means there is less time for subjects like art and music – even less for creative thinking. Children are naturally imaginative and benefit from being introduced to a broad range of subjects at a young age.

Secondly, like me, she is the mother of primary school aged children and is always disappointed by the children’s magazines found on the high street. The gender stereotyping, the plastic toys, the adverts and the lack of decent content all for the inflated price of £5 or £6 per issue.

Brilliant Brainz

Brilliant Brainz’ is a subscription magazine packed with fabulous content, activities, fun facts and challenges that will get your child’s brain buzzing! With a wide range subjects covered, there will be something for every curious mind.

Brilliant Brainz

Every one of Brilliant Brainz’ main subject areas; Art, Music, Food, Philosophy and Science & Nature is written by a professional within their field, who has educated the primary school age group.

Brilliant Brainz also has books and entertainment, apps and tech sections, along with other regular features. It is very interactive, with quizzes, recipes, art projects, science experiments, jokes and more. There are no adverts in the magazine and no plastic toys.

Eliza says (8): “It tells you how to make things like a magical tree and animal puppets and I like trying out the experiments, especially the Ice Magic one.

Isaac (10) says: “I like reading all the fun facts and learning about some of the jobs that adults do. I also liked doing the wordsearch”

Sebastian (5): “I like the jokes”

Brilliant Brainz costs from £3.99 per issue, with discounts available for 6 month subscriptions and 12 month subscriptions. Find out more here: brilliantbrainz.com/subscripe-gifted

  1. Oo I’ve not heard of this magazine before, but it is the type of magazine I would order for my daughters when they’re older 🙂

  2. I agree children’s magazines can often be over priced and although the toys can be popular with children their value doesn’t allow for the amount charged for them. This sounds so much more reasonable and better for kids.

  3. I’ve never come across this magazine before but it looks fab! Oscar has a real thirst for knowledge, and I think he’d get a lot out of sitting and looking at Brilliant Brainz. I’m definitely going to be looking out for it next time I’m in town 🙂

  4. This looks amazing and especially perfect for my 9 year old! He loves to read but sometimes wants something a little more easy to read than the big chapter books he has. Your right a lot of magazines on the shelf are crazy expensive and are half full of adverts and posters and are discarded pretty quickly! These look fab, I will definitely head on over now to look at setting up a subscription for my son.
