Project Mc² Perfume Science Kit Review

Project Mc² on Netflix is still one of Eliza’s favourite television series.

Set in the fictional city of Maywood Glen, California, the show revolves around the fields of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).

The series follows the adventures of McKeyla McAlister and her best friends, who work for a government organisation called NOV8 (pronounced “innovate”), a highly secretive group of teenage female government operatives who are trying to protect the world. These super-smart girls become secret agents who use their science and tech skills to save the day.

Last month we reviewed the Project Mc² Ultimate Lab Kit and we have since completed all the science experiments that came with it and now we have the Project Mc² Perfume Science Kit to add to our collection.

As seen in the program, Adrienne Attoms’ next mission is to use her cosmetic chemistry skills to formulate the perfect look for saving the world and with this set, you can formulate your own perfumes using cosmetic chemistry!

The first thing you need to do is slot the set together, which Eliza was able to do by herself thanks to the simple instructions.

Project MC2 Perfume

The set comes with violet and poppy scents and all else that is required is some distilled water and food colouring (optional).

Perfume Lab

Pump the ingredients through the tubes, and watch as your custom scent drips down and collects in the beaker.

Then, pour into the test tube-shaped spritzers to store your perfumes.

Perfume

Once you are confident in making your own perfume with the scents provided, you can start making your own with essential oils or other household ingredients.

Eliza loved making her own perfume and the scents are quite light, perfect for young girls. My only feedback is the process is quite messy, so be prepared for a bit of a mess – especially if you add food colouring.

We have an oil cloth on the table and mopped up the leakage with kitchen roll, but you could always place the set on a plastic bag or newspaper.

The Project Mc² Perfume Science Kit is available from all good toy shops with an RRP of £34.99

  1. My kids don’t watch the show but I support anything that encourages girls to see the value in growing science and technology skills. As a female who had a career in a technical field, I am hopeful that shows and kits like this will be a great door opener for more smart girls to enter the fields of science and technology. Hopefully, hands on experiences similar to this perfume making kit will show young girls that they are capable to not only participate but to succeed and lead while having fun all the same!
