At the grand old age of 10, Isaac is starting to move away from toys now and prefers to play on his games console, or construct things out of LEGO.
Every now and again, however, a toy comes along that catches his imagination and he will play with for hours.
We were sent a Crate Creatures Surprise to review and he could not wait to release it from its cage!
Even opening the Crate Creatures Surprise is fun, as it comes in a plastic crate with a chain and lock holding it together. On the side of the crate is a crowbar which has to be removed so you can open the lock.
The crowbar has a double feature as you need to use it to open the door too – do you dare see what is inside?
Meet Snort Hog!
What does a Crate Creature do?
- Each of the Crate Creatures Surprise characters has over 45 different sounds and effects.
- Pull its tongue for monstrously fun sounds, gross noises, glowing eyes and to make it vibrate.
- Record a message and listen as he repeats it back in his own monster voice – try hold him upside as he talks for him to say it backwards and he even develops a stammer if you shake him when he is trying to talk
- There is a motion sensor inside which means they react when they are laid down, held upside down or knocked over.
- You can feed them their favourite food and listen to them eat (and burp). Each of the creatures comes with their own favourite food; Snort Hog LOVES Corn Dogs and the food unlocks chomping sounds when placed in his mouth.
- Snort Hog sneezes bogies
Crate Creature Surprise has a volume/on/off switch on the back of his head which means he is easy to control and he doesn’t waste batteries and his crate can be used over and over again, making it a fun toy that they want to keep playing with.
There are four Crate Creatures Surprise to collect: Snort Hog, Pudge, Blizz or Sizzle and they are available from all good toy shops RRP: £39.99 – each takes 3 x AA batteries which are included.
I’ve not seen these before! With birthdays coming up, I bet they will be on the lists!

I am keeping this blog post away from my boys. As soon as they see these, they’re going to be asking about them non-stop. How cool! Even I love them! Snort Hog sounds perfect.
My nephew is 9 and has also moved from toys now. He only plays on his tablet or console.
My nephew is about to turn nine and has just started to move away from toys in favour of his PS and iPad, I wonder if this would get him back to playing with toys x
