The winter is finally on its way out-of-town and my thoughts have turned to freshening up the home in time for the warmer and brighter weather.
Over the winter we indulged in new brushed cotton bedding for all the family, which is perfect for the chilly winter months, but now things are warming up, we definitely need some less Scandinavian and cooler.
One of the most inexpensive and effective ways to bring spring into your home is to incorporate splashes of colour in each room of the house by bringing in pillows and cushions in breezy fabrics like linen or printed cotton to lighten things up a bit, reflecting the beauty outside and bringing it into your home.
It is likely that your windows have been neglected over the winter months, covered with curtains and heavy blinds from Express Essex Blinds to keep the heat in and the dreary weather out.
Now the evenings are getting lighter, give the windows a clean and spruce them up with a set of new made-to-measure window curtains. These days you can even order them online and get them delivered straight to your door!
Our project for the spring is to get the lounge ceiling and walls skimmed and then giving it a fresh new look. If like me you are going for a whole new look, then ice cream colours and inky blues are very much on trend for this season.
Personally I am going to go for the inky blues, but give the walls a light, off-white shade and accessorise with darker blues, so it is easier to adjust when we fancy a change.
Do you have any plans to update your home for the spring?
