Psoriasis is something I have suffered with since I was a child and although it never really goes away, it does seem to come and go when it feels like it.
Psoriasis is defined as: a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales. These patches (or plaques as they’re often referred to) normally appear on your elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but can appear anywhere on your body and in some cases, including mine, the patches can be itchy or sore.
The worst bit about having psoriasis is that there’s no cure for it. I have tried a huge range of treatments that can supposedly improve symptoms and the appearance of skin patches including corticosteroids, various moisturisers and even herbal medicine – but with little success.
I was invited to try the Philips BlueControl Advance device – the worlds first wearable Blue LED Light treatment for treating mild – moderate plaque psoriasis.
Philips BlueControl Advance is not only gentle, but it is UV and chemical free. It works by inducing natural relief processes in the skin, helping to control rapid cell proliferation and inflammation. This, in turn, helps the skin to regenerate at normal speed – providing relief from plaque psoriasis symptoms such as redness, scaling and thickness.
In the box is: USB charging cable; charging adapter; 3 x fixation straps; BlueControl Advance Light; BlueControl Advance Light case and a carry case.
Philips BlueControl has been designed to use on psoriasis on the arms and legs and should be used to treat each plaque once per day, with a single treatment taking just 15 minutes. As it is portable, this can be done whilst sitting at your desk as work, or whilst sitting watching the television in the evening.
When the light is on, it feels warm but not painful and once your treatment is finished, the BlueControl beeps so you can move it to another area. It is also recommended that you use a moisturiser on the patches after treatment – I have been using aloe vera gel.
You don’t see instant results with BlueControl Advance – and of course, different people respond at different rates, but after two weeks using it, I have noticed that a particularly raised and sore area of psoriasis on my thigh is a lot less inflamed and the soreness had subsided and the tiny patches of psoriasis have disappeared completely.
After 4 weeks using BlueControl I realised that my psoriasis patches are not itchy and the flaking is much reduced.
I will keep you posted on my progress……
Whilst it is not cheap, retailing at £349, it is available to test it at home, risk-free, with Philips 90-day money-back guarantee and there is a 25% discount available by joining the Philips newsletter.
Disclaimer: I was sent the Philips BlueControl Advance to test, all thoughts and opinions are my own
I shall be following with interest as Asa has suffered since the age of 7 and would love to find something that relieved it even a little.
Oh the free trial idea is super good. I hope this keeps on improving things for you. Mich x
Oh wow, the results are really impressive. Well worth the initial investment if you are seeing an improvement.
I recently bought a Philips hair removal wand for a similar price and the confidence boost outweighs the cost.
This sounds like a great product. You can really see the difference in your skin after 4 weeks. I look forward to seeing your updates
Yes a tad pricey, but it does look like it’s working well so that’s great! Hope it keeps improving for you!
What a nifty bit of kit and would be really beneficial for someone that suffers from Psoriasis. You can’t really put a price for someone feeling comfortable in their own skin x good luck with the treatment x
That is really pricey but if it works it’s a great investment. Hope you continue to see signs of improvement.
Wow you can really see the results – that’s amazing that it can be done in the comfort of your own home too 🙂
I’ve heard a lot about light therapy style products for skin conditions, but I didn’t realise just how successful they are at treating symptoms. This looks amazing, I’m so glad you have found something that works so well for you.
I am so pleased to hear that the light treatment after 4 weeks has visibly improved your psoriasis and while it might not be cheap sometimes it is worth paying extra to get results. I think its a brilliant investment!
Wow what a difference. I have hormonally based psoriasis all do with getting on a bit, but for 2 weeks of every month my hands are covered and so sore and itchy…this may well help a little
That looks pretty painful. Sunshine often helps people, but in the UK that can be in short supply. Glad you are seeing results with the machine.
It’s wonderful that you’ve found a treatment that is helping. Keep us updated.
Wow, such a great improvement in 4 weeks! I know a man who suffers from severe psoriasis, and nothing helps him. I’ll get him to try out this treatment. Good luck with the battle, psoriasis sucks, I hope the blue light helps you as much as possible! <3
That’s an amazing difference and whilst it is pricey for me it would be worth it to live a more comfortable life and not be itchy!
What a great gadget. I can see a clear difference. Definitely worth investing in the gadget if needed.
It looks like it is really making a difference, I will have to tell my brother as he too suffers and nothing seems to help him x
Wow you can really see the difference. The free trial sounds good for anyone a bit unsure of the price tag but if your results are anything to go by people will be keeping it!
It’s always nice when you find a product that helps with your health issues. I think this one’s very promising. I hope it continues to do wonders for your skin condition.
Oh wow, that is a really good difference. This looks like a great product and anything to help with the itchiness is a great relief.
