Philips BlueControl Advance – Blue light treatment for plaque psoriasis

Psoriasis is something I have suffered with since I was a child and although it never really goes away, it does seem to come and go when it feels like it.

Psoriasis is defined as: a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales. These patches (or plaques as they’re often referred to) normally appear on your elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but can appear anywhere on your body and in some cases, including mine, the patches can be itchy or sore.

The worst bit about having psoriasis is that there’s no cure for it. I have tried a huge range of treatments that can supposedly improve symptoms and the appearance of skin patches including corticosteroids, various moisturisers and even herbal medicine – but with little success.

I was invited to try the Philips BlueControl Advance device – the worlds first wearable Blue LED Light treatment for treating mild – moderate plaque psoriasis.

Philips Blue Control

Philips BlueControl Advance is not only gentle, but it is UV and chemical free. It works by inducing natural relief processes in the skin, helping to control rapid cell proliferation and inflammation. This,  in turn, helps the skin to regenerate at normal speed – providing relief from plaque psoriasis symptoms such as redness, scaling and thickness.

In the box is: USB charging cable; charging adapter; 3 x fixation straps; BlueControl Advance Light; BlueControl Advance Light case and a carry case.

Philips Blue Control

Philips BlueControl has been designed to use on psoriasis on the arms and legs and should be used to treat each plaque once per day, with a single treatment taking just 15 minutes. As it is portable, this can be done whilst sitting at your desk as work, or whilst sitting watching the television in the evening.

When the light is on, it feels warm but not painful and once your treatment is finished, the BlueControl beeps so you can move it to another area. It is also recommended that you use a moisturiser on the patches after treatment – I have been using aloe vera gel.

You don’t see instant results with BlueControl Advance – and of course, different people respond at different rates, but after two weeks using it, I have noticed that a particularly raised and sore area of psoriasis on my thigh is a lot less inflamed and the soreness had subsided and the tiny patches of psoriasis have disappeared completely.

After 4 weeks using BlueControl I realised that my psoriasis patches are not itchy and the flaking is much reduced.

I will keep you posted on my progress……

Whilst it is not cheap, retailing at £349, it is available to test it at home, risk-free, with Philips 90-day money-back guarantee and there is a 25% discount available by joining the Philips newsletter.

  1. Oh wow, the results are really impressive. Well worth the initial investment if you are seeing an improvement.

I recently bought a Philips hair removal wand for a similar price and the confidence boost outweighs the cost.
