There is no denying that taking toddlers on holiday can be a challenge, but if planned right, it can be an amazing experience for all the family.
The best advice I can offer is to choose your location wisely and find somewhere that offers plenty of entertainment for the fussiest of toddlers as well as the freedom to explore and enjoy the location at your own pace. This is why I favour the modern holiday parc for a top-notch holiday stay!
My first tip is to find somewhere that offers toddler friendly holiday’s across Europe, where you can stay in modern holiday homes that are perfect for a family break.
The best thing about holiday parcs is that you can find everything you need on site, so there is no need to go offsite if you don’t want to, with planned entertainment, shops, restaurants, sporting facilities and some even have beauty treatments available, so Mum can have a treat too.
Of course, there was also plenty for the kids to enjoy, including a covered pool complex with water slides, a water chute and splash park area plus numerous park areas, planned activities and even their own beach!!
Holiday parcs nowadays offer more of a glamping experience than what was traditionally available. There are now options to stay in mobile homes and cabins, so no more camping in a sweaty tent and waking up with insect bites!
Our mobile home came with a large wooden terrace and a small garden area with plenty of patio furniture and a gas barbecue, perfect for enjoying the lovely sunny weather.
However, again, some parcs now offer pre-bookable extra’s, such as linen and beach towel hire, cots and high chairs, leaving you more room to pack the items that will make your holiday extra special.
Even though our kids are a little older now, we always try and stay in mobile home / lodge accommodation because it gives them their own space to play during the daytime and they have their own bedroom at night so we can use the kitchen, lounge, bathroom, outside deck and bedroom without disturbing them.
We also find it much cheaper to self-cater, plus are not worrying what our fussy eater, will or will not eat!
Another benefit of staying at a holiday parc is that there are numerous other families also staying close by, with children of similar ages, so chances are you and the kids will form great friendships with other residents, which also helps keep them entertained.
Some holiday parcs also offer day trips to local places of interest for a small extra charge. Our parc was close to Paris and offered a coach service into the city itself, as well as to Disneyland Paris, which is a must visit when staying close by.
We had a great experience staying at a holiday parc – have you visited one before?
We haven’t tried holiday parks abroad yet but it’s definitely something we would consider in the future.
We love visiting holiday parks – they are our favourite places to go to as a family on holiday as there is so much to keep children entertained.
I think it’s so nice that there’s so much to do in one areas, we used to go to places like this when me and my brother were a kid and we loved them x
I totally agree, I think holiday parks are the way forward for families abroad, especially large families!
I have never visited a holiday Parc, but it looks so inviting. Great for kids and a brilliant base to see Paris and Disneyland.
I think when travelling abroad it makes the holiday more affordable!
Holiday parks are definitely great for families – we used to go to them a lot when my son was younger!
Would you believe we actually live on a holiday park. It’s mostly residential retirees but there’s another young family moving in after Christmas. It’s a unique way to live while deciding if we want to invest in a house or if we’ll move on again. Ours doesn’t have as many facilities for families as other parks but it does its best in the summer.
I’ve never tried a holiday parc, but I think it’s something we’re looking into next year. We want to go on a family holiday but with a (then nearly) 1 year old, we are limited so parcs seem like a best option for us.
I’ve never heard of holiday Parc but its definitly somewhere I would consider in the future
Holiday Parcs sounds amazing. We have never been before. Plan to visit soon.
I think it’s really a wonderful experience for the kids to visit holiday parks. They’re just not thrilled by the place but also with meeting other kids. I’m sure us adults also enjoy them.
We haven’t been to a holiday parc yet but would love to, it’s so convenient with a preschooler
