Celebrating National Chocolate Week with a Chocolate Buffet at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel

Chocolate, chocolate, everywhere!

If you are a chocoholic there is nothing better than the smell of chocolate as you walk into a room and it was the first thing that hit us when we visited the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel for their monthly chocolate buffet.

Chocolatier Gerry Wilton is the creator of the chocolate buffet and as he introduced himself and the event, he clearly showed his expertise and passion for the wonderful array of chocolate delights, from cakes to fine chocolate pieces that were all on show, ready to be sampled.

Although predominantly an adult event, children are more than welcome and mine could not wait to get stuck in.

The question was, where to start?

You are given 90 minutes to eat as much, or as little, as you like. You are given small side plates and it is recommended that you go up and select items little and often.

Isaac and I started with waffles, drizzled with warm chocolate whereas Eliza opted for a pancake from the lovely chef who was set up in the corner of the room.

I was pleased to see that the kids added fruit to their choices too.

Also on offer were dark, milk and white chocolate cakes, profiteroles, mousses, tarts, biscuits, brownies, tiffin, caramel shortcake, cheesecake, plus 2 chocolate fountains, one white and one milk chocolate and both with with fruit and marshmallows to add to your sticks.

The waiters were constantly re-stocking the tables and checking if everyone was ok, even bringing out plain water for Isaac as he didn’t like the mint leaves in his.

I was really surprised how much the kids managed to eat and Sebastian was rather fond of the dark chocolate pieces and marshmallows.

Also on the table was a jug of iced water to help cleanse the palette and wash the chocolate down. Gerry did recommend Prosecco as a great partner for the chocolate but sadly I was driving so didn’t get to try it.

The chocolate buffet is held once a month and costsΒ Β£22.95pp and Β£10.95 for children under 10 years old and is the perfect treat for a chocoholic!!

  1. OMG this sounds like heaven. We are a family of chocoholics so all 5 of us would love to go along and enjoy a chocolate buffet. I think mine would be full within the first 10 minutes knowing them and the way they eat chocolate they wouldn’t need the whole 90.
