What we are watching October 2017 #NetflixStreamTeam

The nights are drawing in, its getting colder but Netflix is here to save the day.

We always find the summer months a struggle TV wise, as the shows we love on terrestrial channels dry up, so Netflix was our TV saviour.

One series that was recommended to me was Sense8, where eight people can telepathically experience each other’s lives.

The thing I love about Netflix is that:

  1. It has no adverts
  2. You can binge watch an entire series, or two

We did binge watch Sense8 and I will admit that the first couple of episodes where they set up the story were a bit hard to follow, but it is well worth sticking with.

The 8 strangers all live in different countries around the globe, suddenly begin to communicate telepathically, but soon discover their gift also makes them targets. One minute you are in London and the next you are whisked off to Iceland, Mumbai, Seoul or Detroit.

My only grumble is that season 2’s ending left it wide open and Netflix are not renewing it for a third season, however, we have now been promised a two hour wrap up of the series next year!

I mentioned in my first Netflix post that we loved Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland, so you can only imagine my excitement that series 2 started airing this month.

Kiefer Sutherland is back as President Kirkman, formerly the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, until a terrorist attack killed pretty much everyone else in the government.

Having got over the terrorist threat of last series, series two promises less twists and turns, but will instead explore some of the character relationships and some of the interpersonal dynamics in the newly formed White House.

One of our favourite shows of 2016 is also back on 27th October – Stranger Things.

Set in a small American town in the 80’s the show is full of nostagia. The show is centred round a group of kids in the small Indiana town of Hawkins and their search for their friend Will who vanishes as he cycles home one night.

His friends uncover a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl, randomly named Eleven. The actors are absolutely amazing, especially Millie Bobby Brown who shaved her beautiful long hair for the role.

Both Hubby and I are super excited by its return and have been busy watching trailer for clues. All we really know so far is that it is set a year later!

If you have not seen the first series of Stranger Things, get it watched quick, before the new one begins!!

As for the kids, well they have devoured the new series of Ninjago and How to Train a Dragon – Race to the Edge already.

If you have a little (or not so little) one with a birthday coming up, don’t forget the Netflix Birthday’s on Demand feature, which you can set up to play a very special birthday message during certain shows.

What have you been watching on Netflix this month?

  2. My eldest is a huge fan of How to Train your Dragon! I’ve been watching The Crown and have found it so interesting. We’ve also been watching lots of Planet Earth as well recently… it’s got the boys really interested in the natural world.
