If there is one thing that Walt Disney World is, it is fun for ALL the family.
Walt Disney World is a champion of family time with four theme parks and two water parks, each with unique theming and attractions, plus dining shopping and entertainment experiences, there really is something for everyone at Walt Disney World and I have already shared my thoughts on Magic Kingdom.
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios was the park that the boys were most excited about as they are Star Wars mad, but it does not mean that Eliza was excluded as there was plenty to do for her too.
If you are staying in a Walt Disney Hotel, make sure you get there during the parks Magic Hours as it’s the best chance to get on the rides queue free and sign up for Jedi training which books up fast.
Once we had our session booked we headed into the Star Wars Launch Bay where we got to watch a 10 minute behind the scenes film all about the film and get an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes, concept artwork and artifacts from theΒ Star WarsΒ films.
Hubby and the boys were in their element here and we even encountered Storm Troopers on patrol, who stayed in character despite people trying to stop them for photos or distract them.
Inside you also get the chance to meet some of your favourite characters including Chewbacca, Kylo Wren and BB8.
Make sure you catch Captain Phasma marching at the front of her finest First Order Stormtroopers, which is a real site to behold and they march at various times during the day.
There is also the live show, Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away to watch which features character favourites such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Kylo Wren and Darth Maul alongside pyrotechnics and special effects.
The kids adored their time at the Jedi Training Academy and still practice their moves now we are home.
Don’t worry if you are not a Star Wars fan, there is still plenty to see and do. Whilst Hubby and Isaac were on the Star Tours ride, Eliza, Sebastian and I went to see Sing-a-long Frozen which was an amusing re-telling of the Frozen story complete with some of our favourite songs and that all important snow.
We also discovered that Olaf really does give warm hugs!
Hollywood Studios is also home to some of our favourite shows from our Walt Disney Holiday. If you are after a bit of action, then Indiana Jones: Epic Stunt Spectacular is a must see and explains how some of the favourite stunts from the film are recreated.
If you are after something a little more gentle, then the Beauty and the Beast Live show sweeps you away into the romantic tale with song and dance from all your favourite characters.
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is also brilliantΒ as you follow Ariel’s adventures as the show recreates scenes from the Disney animated classic, usingΒ large and colourful puppets, live performers, special effects and movie clips.
The Muppets 3D vision is also a must see with characters from the show on the big screen as well as in the audience.
The one thing that Hollywood Studios does lack is rides for younger guests. Isaac and Eliza don’t like fast rides which ruled out the Aerosmith: Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster and the Tower of Terror, however, Toy Story Mania was their favourite ride of all the parksΒ as we span through a virtual gallery of exciting carnival games based on the hit animated film series.
Also for younger guests is Disney Junior Live where you get to help Mickey and Friends prepare for Minnie Mouse’s birthday with the help of some very special friends including, Princess Sofia, Doc McStuffins and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
There were also plenty of chances to meet your Disney favourites too.
Hollywood Studios was also home to my favourite character meet of our whole holiday: Star-Lord and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Not only did Star-Lord demonstrate some of his funky dance moves, but the kids got to chat to him and Groot for quite a while.
All four main Disney Parks have evening entertainment and Hollywood Studios offers not one, but two spectacular shows. The first one we saw was Fantasmic, where you see the forces of good and evil battling it out in Mickeyβs dream during this night time, outdoor extravagant musical, complete with some of your favourite Disney friends and enemies.
The second one is Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular which is on after Fantasmic.Β State-of-the-art projection effects, dynamic lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics light up the night like never before! The music, magic and characters ofΒ Star WarsΒ combine with special effects and fireworks to put you inside iconic scenes from theΒ Star WarsΒ saga.
We really enjoyed Hollywood Studios and Hubby is already plotting our return as they are currently building a 14-acre Star Wars land and an 11-acre Toy Story area which should be open in 2019, giving you even more things to do.

Visiting Walt Disney just sounds like the most magical holiday and I think the Hollywood studios looks epic! My Husband would love all of the Star wars stuff!
I think, with Disney there’s something there to keep everyyone happy regardless of what age you are. I first went to Disney Land Floriday when I was 16 and then again to Disney Land paris at 21. At both ages I was beyond happy and I know that if I were to go now, it would be the same especially with all the Star Wars to keep both me and my boyfriend happy,
Sounds like you had a lovely time – it’s great that there’s something for everyone. The Jedi Training Academy looks SO awesome…is it just for kids? Cause I’d love it!
Wow Hollywood studios looks amazing, I’ve never been however this has made me want to go so bad. You’ve taken some lovely pictures. The shows sound amazing, definitely need to go there one day! x
This really does look like the most amazing holiday. Nick and I visited on our first Christmas together 25 years ago. I vowed then to return one day with children. Then we had 6 and Coombe Mill and it was never possible. I think your kids will always remember their Hollywood studios visit. I hope you do get to return.
My two younger girls are huge Star Wars fans and would love this! That photo with Olaf is too cute. Looks like a fab place to visit x

Wow this really looks incredible and something for everyone – with such a wide range of wonders and magic at every corner I would say that it does a very good job of keeping everyone happy! I’ve never been though so would have to see for myself!
I have to admit that we didn’t spend much time in this park but we did do the Frozen sing a long and the My Little Mermaid show my son also loved the Hollywood Tower of Terror although I passed on that one! It is a wonderful park with so much for everyone
Looks wonderful – I would love to see the Indiana Jones stunts! x

I went when I was 11 and loved it! I would absolutely LOVE to go back now tho x
I’m so glad you wrote this as its something I worry about. By the time we can afford to go to Disneyland Lewis will probably be about 16, 17, and I always thought that was too old. I think he would get so much out of it going by this though!
Wow certainly sounds action packed. Did you plan your day much before you went? It sounds a lot like the Hollywood Studios at EuroDisney – but even better.
My daddy is Star Wars mad so he’d love to visit Hollywood Studios. We’re just saving up now for a trip fingers crossed we’ll get there someday x
Somewhere I have always wanted to visit. I wish we could have taken the children when they were younger, I bet it was magical π
