Last minute school uniform shopping!

I am normally the most organised people when it comes to back to school shopping.

Working in a supermarket for years made me realise that if you don’t get the school uniform at the beginning of the summer, the sizes you need are normally sold out by the end of August.

This year, however, all my best laid plans have gone out of the window and I am really disorganised.

As soon as we got back from Disney I placed an order for the kids uniform from the school shop and got this email back:

Uniform

Isaac and Eliza are OK, they have uniform from last term that still fits, but Sebby is starting reception and needs to have uniform, so I have a feeling he may be going into school with no jumper of tie for the first couple of weeks.

Then there is the shoes.

Earlier this year I started saving money with swagbucks and you can get cashback if you buy Startrite shoes online.

I have always taken my kids into shoe shops to get their feet measured, but there is a handy click ‘n’ fit measuring guide online and it is really easy to do in the comfort of your own home.

Simply print off a grid and take pictures of your childs feet on the grid, upload the photo’s to the website and it will actually give you your child’s size.

It took a few goes to get the photo’s right as you need to make sure the full grid is in the photos, but the measurements were done and our shoe order complete.

For Isaac we chose the Aqua Warrior shoes, which are waterproof leather shoes with a scuff resistant toe protection to help shoes look good for longer.

For Eliza it just had to be the Princess Elza shoes which also have scuff resistant toe protection to help them look good for longer.

Both pairs of shoes also have padded ankles for extra comfort & support and breathable linings, removable insoles to keep feet fresh.

Both pairs of shoes fit perfectly and arrived promptly too.

Also check out the Startrite Outlet page for some bargains – I bought Sebby’s school shoes in the next size up for £12 back in June which was a real bargain!!

Now to start buying the rest of the uniform, only 8 days and counting until they go back to school.

Are you ready for the new term?

  1. I don’t miss the last minute school uniform shopping days! Plenty of years we ended up in a Tesco Extra the day before school trying to buy uniforms that would at least fit for a few months lol

  2. I so agree. I’ve also learned my lesson the hard way a few years ago. But now I order them as soon as I see uniform my daughter likes because I know they go out of stock real quick. We also have Startrite shoes for T this year, love it!

  3. The Scottish schools in my area went back on the 22 August and I wondered why I couldn’t get my kid’s hair cut the weekend before. I’m dreading having to do everything with the crowd though in some ways the structure may do us good.

  4. This is our first year of having to do the school uniform rush in earnest and so I took everyone’s advice and did the lion’s share early! I’ve not heard of Swagbucks I have to investigate that. Startrite is always a winner!

  5. I’m the opposite. I always wait til two or three days before school starts, because I wouldn’t want them to grow out of it over the summer holidays. I can honestly say I’ve never had a problem with finding the right sizes. This year our holiday has gotten in the way so we are actually going to do the school shoe shop after the first day back.

  6. I love Startrite for shoes. I have the whole ‘plan for school uniform’ to come for the first time next year. I didn’t realise you had to get uniform that early if you didn’t want to miss out on sizes. I’ll definitely remember that. x

  7. I cut school uniform shopping REALLY fine this year. I think I finished Oscar’s 3 days before he started, and Stacey’s, um, the night before. Bad mummy! It looks like you picked up some fab shoes for the kids from Startrite, and how cool is the online measuring guide?! I’ll have to remember this for next year 🙂
