On 25th June it was National Unplugging Day and we were challenged to go gadget free and spend the day from sun-up to sun-down without any technology.
With traditional family values under constant attack from modern day living and a variety of mental, physical and emotional issues stemming from technology overuse it’s no wonder that people of all ages have never been more desperate to find ways to get a handle on theirs and their family.
So the challenge was to break free from technology to re-connect with the family and we were sent the RavensBurger game Bugs in the Kitchen to try out.
We are no stranger to silly games but this has to be the best yet and kept us all giggling away as we had to try and guide a pesky little bug into a trap.
Only it’s not just any bug – it’s a HEXBUG nano, scuttling around the game board!
It takes about 5 minutes to put the game board together and pop out the tokens, but you are soon ready to play.
The idea of the game is to guide the HEXBUG nano into your trap by turning knives, forks and spoons and the board can be set up in several different ways to really mix up the game.
Each player takes it in turns to throw the die to discover which utensils you can turn. You can either guide the HEXBUG nano into your trap, or block it from falling into your opponents. Each time you catch the bug in the trap you earn a token – the first player to collect 5 tokens wins the game.
It is a fun-to-play family game suitable for 2-4 players, aged 6 years upwards but Sebby (4) thoroughly enjoyed it too and was a bit of a demon at the game.
This looks amazing!! I’m very excited about it – I want to play it now. Our eldest (4) would really love this. We’ve been looking for some games that don’t take up a lot of space for our upcoming motorhome summer adventure – this may just make the cut. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

That looks like a fun game to play. We need more games like this one, especially since it’s almost summer. Perfect for days when the little ones complain about being bored 😉

National Unplugging Day – ahhhh! I don’t know how I would cope haha! We did play Hungry Hippos on Saturday which was quite retro, I think Tyler is getting into board games now. This one looks good fun, I think boys would like the bug too – ugh! x
