Sebastian starts Nursery School next week and although is very competent at counting I am aware that he needs to start learning his phonic’s.
We were invited to review Peppa’s Alphaphonics Campervan which supports children’s learning about the alphabet, spelling, phonics and word recognition.
Peppa’s Alphaphonics Campervan features 8 games including:
- Find the Character or Object – Peppa will ask you to find the character or object. The Campervan will give you three attempts and if you get it wrong the first time it when then highlight 5 possible answers, get it wrong again and it will highlight three and if you get it wrong a final time it will give the answer.
- Try & spell – Peppa will ask you spell one of the words in the pictures. If you make a mistake the Campervan will encourage you try again give you three attempts before giving a hint.
- What’s the letter – Peppa will ask you to find the first letter of a word. The Campervan will give you three attempts and if you get it wrong the first time it when then highlight 5 possible answers, get it wrong again and it will highlight three and if you get it wrong a final time it will give the answer.

- Copy Me – Peppa will ask you to “copy me” and you need to press the sequence of buttons as they light up.
You can also press each button to hear the sound or word in the picture, a tune and even the whole alphabet played.
The 26 Alphabet letter keys light up and flash acting as a useful guide to help your child learn as they play and the campervan also features Peppa Pig theme music, tunes and funny sounds.
Sebby picked up how to use this toy within minutes and is a little phonic’s demon. He has mastered the find a character, what’s the letter and find a letter already. Obviously he is too young for spelling words but Eliza (5) has enjoyed using this function on the campervan so it is a toy that will grow with them.
Sebby has started copying the alphabet song and although it is purely repetition at the moment I know this will stand him in good stead for when he starts school.
Peppa’s Alphaphonics Campervan is available at Smyths Toystore priced at £19.99.
I think it’s great that this toy will help a child on their phonic journey, and such a well-priced toy too. Learning phonics is so important for speech and writing too.
