Social media has come a long way in a few short years.
I remember when Abbey made me join Bebo when she was 13, which was then followed by facebook, twitter and then instagram.
In August my 5th blogging anniversary came and went without any form of celebrations as we were on holiday, but I am thankful to my blog for many reasons.
- No longer can my children say to me “We have done nothing this holiday” – now I have the photo’s to prove every single day trip
- I have made some fabulous new friends
- I take better photographs and my walls are full of pictures of happy memories from some of our adventures
- I get some amazing opportunities to go to events that I never dreamed I would be able to attend
- My blog is also my online diary and like any family we have had our ups and downs – the support from the community has been staggering and I am grateful to every single one of you that has reached out either through my blog or via social media
Along the way I have also learned that less is sometimes more, quality over quantity, especially when sharing pictures. I do prefer digital photography though as I have literally hundreds of photographs just sat in the loft of my older kids when they were babies that never see the light of day.
Social media is a strange beast at times. Never before were we compelled to share pictures of our kids standing in front of a door in their new school uniform or of our dinner and this video from IKEA made me laugh out loud and nod in agreement as it played. Imagine living a century ago and having to have your dinner painted as a portrait and liked by everyone before you could start eating it……
So Happy Blogerversary to me, here’s to another 5 years of blogging and a promise not to overshare, especially my dinner!
Happy 5th Blogaversary Kara! You write two fantastic blogs and should be so proud of yourself! Thank you!
Happy 5th Blogaversary – keep up the good work, I mostly enjoy reading your blogs 🙂
