Back in February last year we got really excited by a new kind of book, one which not only acts as a book, but a story board and it even transformed into a tractor – the Miles Kelly Tractor Book.

Earlier this month I was sent the next book in the series which already features fire engines, spaceships, princess carriages, pirate ships, trains and bulldozers – the Miles Kelly Convertible Submarine.

The Convertible Submarine is the perfect playbook for toddlers aged 3–6 years to read, play and pretend to drive a submarine into the deep ocean with a fun, underwater adventure story which Sebby really enjoyed but best of all is it folds into a submarine for him to play inside.

With wonderful illustrations by Simon Abbott, the book is packed full of charming details. You can also converting it into a simple play mat / story board where we were searching for a shipwreck but met lots of deep sea creatures along the way which Sebby loved identifying, from different fish, to what they like to eat. He even got some of his own toys on it to help.

When set up as a Submarine, the story is on the inside and the outside is a gorgeous orange Submarine complete with lots of sea creatures for the kids to identify.

The fun, simple text encourages word recognition and early reading skills, so kids can take part in the story and make observations about what they notice on their sea voyage.

The book is a big hit with Sebastian and Eliza alike and the good news is, that thanks to Miles Kelly, I have another Miles Kelly Convertible Submarine to giveaway to one lucky reader.

  32. I think he’d love them all..but his favourite no doubt would be the School Bus as it would tie in with his constant singing at the moment of ‘Wheels on the Bus’ 😉

  76. Phoenix would love the Princess Carriage and Maxx is quite happy being with his sister so would probably have as much fun as Phoenix. 🙂
