For years we owned an old stereo system but when hubby put all our old CD’s on iTunes we didn’t use it anymore and listened to music through the computer so we decided to get rid of it to give us more room.
Fast forward to today and it is something I regret doing as I love listening to the radio. I know these days that you can listen to the radio through your phone / tablet or television, but I don’t see the point of firing up the TV for that purpose and the speaker on my iPhone isn’t good enough for listening in the home.
I have been looking at Digital Radio’s for some time and have found that Goodmans audio offers digital and DAB radios, stylish audio accessories and portable options.
We were sent the bluetooth-enabled digital and DAB Oxford II radio is a 1960s-inspired portable radio (RRP £69.99) that really looks gorgeous in any room. Not only does it look good, it really works, and is Digital Tick approved and if you want to listen to your own music the Oxford II includes easy pairing and streaming from any Bluetooth compatible device or you can also Tap & Pair your NFC enabled smartphone for immediate, hassle free pairing.
I love the classic look of the radio and the tan leather carry handle is matched to classic chrome detailing giving Oxford true authenticity. The period feel is further enhanced by accurately referencing the colours of the era with the radio available in Bonbon, Berry, Mustard, Sky, Moss and Porcelain. The sound quality is brilliant too.
It comes with a power cable which is carefully hidden at the back, but if you prefer to use it as a portable radio it also take 6 x C batteries.
If you are looking for something more powerful, the ’50s-styled Heritage II is more than just a radio. It looks great in any home, combines classic design and a slick finish with Digital Tick approved digital and DAB radio, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth streaming, Wi-Fi multi-room audio and deep, rich audio and so much more; it’s their most high-end product, at RRP £199.99
If budget is an issue, the simply and smartly designed Canvas DAB radio is a portable at-home option for only £29.99
In these days of devices on the nightstand, NOD comes into its own. Equipped with two USB ports with high power, fast charging, NOD allows you to charge your mobile devices, tablets or e-readers at your bedside without the need for additional chargers. This is definitely on my to buy list now!
Oooh I love it! I used to listen to the radio all the time when at home, in my car and even quietly in my office when I was at work. Nowadays my car stereo has been hijacked by the kids CD’s and the radio on my stereo in the kitchen doesn’t work. It also doesn’t play my CD’s anymore so it’s pretty useless. Something like this would be perfect for space saving too!!
I’ve had bad experiences with Goodmans in the past, so it’s nice to see that their products seem to be working well again.
I love the look of that radio, so vintage looking. Would love to have it in our kitchen. My husband uses our daughter’s old cd player and it’s pink! 😉
I love the retro style of the radio you were sent. I have no access to a radio – the one in the car is broken and we’ve none at home so I’d love something like this for the kitchen.
I”ve not had a radio in ages I tend to listen to music on spotify but I do like this retro looking radio.
We never use a radio these days, just use our phones or the docking station. Something like this would be great but it’s probably just another thing that my kids would fiddle with!! One day…
I’ve always wanted a DAB – I love listening to Radio 4, 5 Live & Radio Scotland’s Football coverage, Classical FM, Radio 4 Extra, Radio 2 – so many quality stations. Our holiday cottage had a DAB Oxford II radio in it. I have to admit that I didn’t think it would be that good because we were in the middle of nowhere but the reception was *perfect*. I want one….
I can’t remember the last time I listened to the radio. It’s all digital download these days. I tend to use my tablet to play music if I’m in the mood for it but that’s pretty rare.
I haven’t listened to the radio for years, i was never a big radio person but was just saying to my hubby how i miss having something to play our music through. I do like the look of the one they sent you.
I like to listen to the radio when I am cleaning, so I need one and ive been looking at a DAB x
We have a radio in our home but I have not had my own radio since I was 15. Isn’t it crazy how technology changes?
Oh I love love love this retro radio!! It looks so cool and it is perfect to have it in the kitchen. My sister in law has one and I always thought it was great!! I actually want one for my kitchen too! 😉 xx
I’m loving the colour and the vintage look. I like the radio but only seem to listen to it in the car these days. I think I need something like this
I love my DAB radio and the vintage look of this one is gorgeous xx
