Get Outdoors with Mountain Warehouse and Steve Backshall

According to a recent survey by Mountain Warehouse, 50% of British children are spending less time outdoors than their parents did and almost one quarter have never climbed a tree. To help prevent outdoor pastimes being forgotten, they have created a range of clothing and accessories with Steve Backshall to encourage children to get back outside and away from their technology.

The collection features stylish and durable clothing suitable for outdoor adventures and is available to purchase in stores and online and Isaac was sent the Wildfire Kids fleece and Spinner Rucksack to review. We fell in love with the collection so much so that we also bought some of the t-shirts too which are currently half price at just £6.99.

Of course we needed to be adventurous like Steve Backshall when reviewing these clothes, so where better to put them to the test that Moors Valley Country Park and a trip around the Go Ape Treetop Junior course, although it was a little colder than we hoped so we had to keep our coats on.

The Steve Backshall Spinner is a 15L rucksack that is perfect for kids to take on their adventures and will be ideal for Isaac to take with him on his first camp with Beavers in a few weeks. The rucksack is designed with a large main compartment, multiple pockets, a hydration bladder compartment and a foldaway rain cover and had plenty of room for Isaac to carry drinks and snacks for our day trip.

The Wildfire kids microfleece is lightweight, soft and breathable and is perfect for keeping Isaac warm and cosy when out and about in the cold. The highly breathable fabric lets moisture out, making sure Isaac stays dry on the inside and it can be used on its own or for layering when it is really cold.

Once you’ve had a look through their new range, don’t forget to download an activity sheet featuring a checklist of activities to complete and a list of outdoor playgrounds to explore. Want to build a den, make a bird feeder or fly a kite? There’s all of that and more on there to keep your little ones busy!

What is more, Mountain Warehouse has a fabulous competition to meet Steve Backshall. Simply send them your adventurous snaps wearing your new Steve Backshall gear and use the hashtag #MeetSteveB, to be in with a chance of meeting the outdoor explorer in person on Saturday 11th June at one of their London stores!

  4. Love this, my son would be obsessed with that bag! So lucky to meet Steve too. My little dots spend more time outdoors because the thought of being trapped inside all day drives me crazy and then into devils. I love this campaign though, it’s so important to get our kids in the great outdoors
