Our Days Out Wishlist for 2016

Over the Christmas holidays my MIL exclaimed that we cannot possibly have any more places we want to visit as we have done them all already, but I personally have a long list of places I want to go, both with and without the children.

This weekend we have sat down as a family and compiled a wishlist of what we want do and where we want to visit this year with some surprising results.

Top of the list for us “grown ups” is Zip World. Hubby and Kian visited in September and adored it but there is one Zip that they didn’t have time to complete – Velocity – a mile long zip line that can reach speeds of over 100mph.

I love where we live in Dorset and I long to see the Jurassic Coast from another angle – from above. I would love to do a helicopter flight to see it in all its glory and Into the Blue has some great offers at the moment for this and other experiences. I quite fancy a RIB ride down the Thames too.

Another local one for is the Beer Caves in East Devon. My Dad has just moved to Axminster so the perfect excuse to visit both as they are fairly close to each other.

London is also on our list with a visit to the Shard, London’s tallest building. The View from The Shard, the visitor attraction at the top of London’s iconic landmark is offering free admission for children during their February half-term (Monday 15 – Sunday 21 February)

The Shard

We were supposed to visit Woburn Safari Park last July on the way home from Leicestershire but sadly the weather was horrendous so we headed straight home instead. The kids love Longleat but want to visit a different zoo and this is top of their list.

A more local one for us is the New Forest Aqua Park. Launched in May, it’s suitable for anyone six and over (you have to be 110cm in height too) and includes slides, see-saws, trampolines and even an ice-tower.

One thing that Isaac missed out on this year because he was too short was Be Gung Ho and I have heard on the grapevine that it is coming to Southampton on 7th May. I would love to get all the family together to race around this 5K course complete with giant inflatables!

Finally, we want to continue making the most of our Merlin annual passes before they run out and visit Alton Towers, Legoland, Chessington etc etc. They are currently on sale from just £99 so grab yours now!

If  you visit London frequently, the ENTERTAINER London 2016 – www.theentertainerme.com/London – is a new app featuring over 900 Buy One Get One Free offers for restaurants, bars, nightclubs, attractions and spas across the capital. Targeting Londoners, the new app ensures that those living, working and coming to play in the city get more bang for their buck.

With a one off payment of £40, the ENTERTAINER London 2016 is valid for one calendar year with no weekend exclusions and can save customers up to £60,000 over the 12-months. Over 50 of the available buy-one-get-one-free offers on the new app have an estimated savings value that is higher than the cost of the app itself, so customers can make their money back by redeeming just one offer.

The app offers customers a location-based search to find the best deals close to them and a savings calculator that shows how much cash has been saved throughout the year.

ENTERTAINER London 2016 product is available to download from the App Store, Google Play and Samsung Apps and more information can be found here www.theentertainerme.com/London and I am giving one away here.

I am still after more ideas – where do you recommend we visit this year?

  1. We really enjoyed Woburn when we went a few years ago, so I’d definitely recommend that. Plus there’s so much to do in London, all the time, so of course I’d recommend a visit here!

  2. There are always lots more places to visit what is your MIL thinking of! Haha! You are in a great part of the country. I would love to visit Dorset and go to Corfe Castle as I haven’t been there since I was little. x

  3. Have you been to Leeds Castle, in Kent? It’s a long way from you, but if you do make it to London for the shard, it’s worth going out of town for a visit. There’s always something exciting there for kids, and the grounds are so tranquil. Great list – hope you enjoy using the Merlin pass till the end!

  4. Sounds like quite a list of places! We’ve been meaning to head over to the UK and not London this time 🙂 I really can’t recommend anything in the UK except Legoland and everything in London, but I can recommend some good destination abroad if you want to head that way 🙂

  5. You are so active as a family and it is brilliant. I haven’t been to Woburn since I was tiny. We are struggling with days out as Mini just can not cope at the moment

  6. Oh my word Velocity sounds absolutely terrifying although I’m sure it’s amazing when you’re whizzing along! View from the Shard and Woburn are on our list too – and Longleat. You must do GoFest this year if you want some sporty fun 🙂
