XR-911 Large Outdoor Helicopter Review

This time last year I took my boys to a remote-controlled helicopter event and after a successful day flying I promised to get them their own helicopter, only I never got around to it until now.

Hawkin’s Bazaar contacted me to see if I wanted to review anything from their website and the XR911 large outdoor Helicopter caught my eye as something the boys would love.

The helicopter measures 60cm from nose to tail and due to its size I would recommend that you fly this beast outside, unless of course you have a large empty warehouse at your disposal.

Before you are ready to fly the helicopter needs a minimum of a two-hour charge, done through a simple plug socket although the remote control does also need 4 x AA batteries.

This 3-channel remote control helicopter is not only large, but fast too. It has a 2.4GHz operating frequency and a control range of up to 60 metres and is so simple to fly that even Isaac (7) can do it.

We put it through its paces in our local park and it flew smoothly despite it being a fairly windy day because it boasts gyro-stabilisation technology which helps keeps it level in the air. We did land it fairly heavily a couple of times and it seems very sturdy too. It also comes with spare blades should they get damaged.

My only grumble with it is that the charge only lasts about 8 minutes so you don’t get a great deal of flying time to enjoy it. The remote control helicopter is currently reduced from £80 to the bargain price of £39.99.
