A New Family Christmas Tradition #XmaswithDobbies

Twas the night before Christmas…

Well actually it is still a few weeks away, but this year we have decided to begin a new family tradition.

For the last two years we spent Christmas away at Coombe Mill in Cornwall and had such a wonderful time that we would love to go back. In fact Isaac looked crushed when we said we weren’t going this year as due to Hubby’s work he is not allowed time off at Christmas, so we are going to recreate some of our favourite memories from it at home.

The Christmas tree is a focal point of our festive living room and our ten year old artifical tree has seen better days, so this year we are replacing it with a real Christmas Tree, just like we had a Coombe Mill.

Of course it is out with the old and in with the new, so we have been busy hunting for the perfect Christmas decorations for it, with the help of Dobbie the Reindeer of course.

We are going to try something a little new and different this year and have a mix of shop bought decorations as well as finding ways to recycle items from around the home and make our very own unique decorations.

I have sought some fabulous paper words from DoCrafts which I am going to paint before letting the kids loose with the glitter and we are also going to attempt to make our own Christmas wreath and table decorations.

I hate the wires from the Christmas tree lights showing, and because Sebby is too young to be trusted to not to start opening presents under the tree I have also chosen a beautiful embroidered tree skirt to sit underneath. This will also help to catch the pine needles as well as finishing the look.

I am gradually adding ideas to my pinterest board, do you have any ideas for easy to make Christmas Decorations?
Follow ChelseaMamma’s board Homemade Christmas Decorations for Kids on Pinterest.

Why not check out the Christmas with Dobbies website to gather some more Christmas inspiration. I am off to stalk some local shops for all things sparkly.

How do you decorate your tree at Christmas?

  1. I’m not sure what to do about a tree this year, as Little Pudding will think it’s a giant play thing. I will be checking out Dobbies for some ideas
