Our Dream Home

If you find me in a daydream it is because I am mentally designing our dream home for the family.

It is a sad fact that we have outgrown our current house where we have lived for ten years as it is just too small. I am addicted to shows such as Location, Location, Location, Grand Designs and Amazing Spaces and they have all given me ideas that are constantly swimming around my head.

We currently live in a terraced house which has already been extended at the back, so increasing the space here is impossible. I dream of buying a larger house that is in need of some serious TLC and turning it from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan.

I would love a house with a sea view, although with Sandbanks up the road this is not going to happen anytime soon unless we win big on the lottery as even the cheapest house there is over £1,000,000 and I am not sure we could ever secure a mortgage for that type of figure.

My dream house would have an open plan kitchen / living space with bi-fold doors across the back of the house to let the light flood in and warming fire to keep us snug in the winter months.

Also downstairs would be a snug for watching TV when the kids are in bed, a cloakroom for muddy boots and coats from our adventures outside and a play room for the kids.

Upstairs I dream of 5 bedrooms – one each for the kids. Kian especially wants his own space instead of sharing with his little brother and with his GCSE’s looming I would love to make this happen for him.

I would also love a loft conversion and make a huge master suite with a walk in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom with a huge Dorma window which looks out over the sea (hopefully).

The garden would be large enough to have a patio area with tables and chairs, a huge wooden climbing frame for the kids and a man-cave where Kian and his Dad can go and play computer games to their heart’s content.

Sadly based on this mortgage calculator my moving house dream is going to stay a dream for the foreseeable future.
