Sebastian loves playing with his cars and adores it when his brothers build him ramps to speed down and jumps to send the cars zooming into the air, so when we were offered the Fisher Price Little People® City Skyway to review I knew he would love it.
It arrived last week on a particular nasty day weather wise and thinking it would be easy to clip together I decided to build it for the children there and then. I urge you NOT to make this mistake!!
Although it is fairly straight forward to build by following the numbers on the bottom of the track, you have to screw part of the tracks into the frame as you go. With an excited toddler and his siblings trying to “help” to speed the process up it was quite a challenge that took me the best part of an hour to do. I would recommend that if you buy this for your child you build it whilst they are in bed and you have peace and quiet.
The set stands over 3 feet tall and comes with two cars. All the kids love sending their vehicle down the ramp at the top, waiting for a surprise finish as the car can come out at the bottom in one of three spots! Will it speed out one of the two side exits or jump off the middle ramp? It’s different every time!
Their creative play is added to with switches to flip which make cars change paths and a realistic working crane, stop sign, petrol pump and parking meter for added fun which also encourages and develops the use of their fine motor skills and imaginations.
The Koby and Tessa cars fit perfectly in little hands but the track works equally as well with smaller cars and they have been setting up races to see which one comes first.
The Little People Skyway set (RRP: £42.99) is recommended for ages 18 months to 5 years, but still appeals to my 7-year-old and it has encouraged him to play with his little brother more.
If you are looking for a toddler toy that will last until they start school then this is it!!
I love Fisher Price toys, great value and great quality. My son is nearly 6 and would still play with this.
Well done you on the construction! I bet you would have had it up in 10 minutes if left alone!!
That looks fab, Bugs would have loved that when he was smaller, he probably still would though to be honest 😉
My boys would have loved that when they were were younger, it seems toys just get better and better.
I am loving this, I am even slightly wanting one, what fun x
This looks ace. My boys would have loved this when they were younger. I adore Little People
I had to laugh at the image of you putting it together with your “helpers”. Looks like a great toy though! 🙂
Looks a great toy, but totally agree on not needing overly keen small people around when you build something for them!
this looks like so much fun!! I love Fisher Price toys they are great quality and the kids love them (yes that means the big kids too)
Oh my goodness Kara this is amazing! I would love one of these for myself to be honest. Was always a fan of cars when I was young! Sounds absolutely brilliant and Fisher Price certainly come up trumps every time x
Now I can see why that would be a popular toy and it will last for years.
Little people toys jars just the best .
