Eliza adores the CBeebies show Topsy and Tim so when we were invited to get involved with the #littlebigmoments campaign with Ladybird Books we jumped at the chance.
A trusted and well-loved pair Topsy and Tim books have been beautifully updated with contemporary artwork. Topsy & Tim remain instantly recognisable to parents while in a fresh style that will appeal to a new generation of fans.
Topsy and Tim love to find fun and adventure in the real world. In Topsy and Tim: Go Camping, the twins make new friends, follow a nature trail and even get to stay in their own tent.
Reading the book was a great way to prepare both Isaac and Eliza for our camping holiday and they even took the book with them to read in the tent.
Like in the book we took two tents, one large one for us and a small one for Kian. Like in the story, putting up a tent can be a bit of a challenge but it got easier and everyone was keen to help. Eliza was the peg princess and in charge of handing out the pegs and Isaac was “Mallet Boy”!!
Camping can be scary, especially at night as it gets really dark, but we took the kids battery operated nightlights which emit a warm glow so there was come light in the tents.
Just like Topsy and Tim they made some friends on the campsite and were soon whizzing down the hill, racing each other on skateboards.
We also got to take part in a nature inspired trail too, just like in the book only we did ours in fancy dress.
Ladybird would like to hear all about the Little Big Moments that everyone has been experiencing with their children, i.e. first steps, first tooth lost, first words etc. Ladybird are running various conversations via @ladybirdbooks for the #littlebigmoments campaign under the following hashtags:
The #littlebigmoments that made you laugh the most?
The #littlebigmoments that caused a slight case of embarrassment?
The #littlebigmoments that gave you a big dose of pride?
The #littlebigmoments that made you realise that your little one was growing up?
If your little one is starting school in a couple of weeks, Ladybird Books has also launched a new Podcast series just for you too.
The next stop on the tour which will be The Oliver’s Madhouse who will be posting on 24th August about Topsy and Tim: Go to the Zoo.

The first time I heard him climb out of bed, take himself to the bathroom for a wee, flush, then go back & quietly play in his room. I’d been telling him to do that for ages rather than climb into bed with us but as soon as he did I felt sad as he was growing up #littlebigmoments
I realised my first baby wasnt a baby anymore when she got up one morning (aged 3) left us sleeping, went downstairs, swept the laminate flooring and was mopping it when we heard her singing “twinkle twinkle” as she mopped !! LOL
