I have been wanting a Dyson Air Multiplier™ (fan) for some time but when we visited the Gadget Show Live earlier this year we were introduced to the Dyson Humidifier which not only works as a humidifier but as a fan too and I was sold.
Since birth Sebastian has really suffered with throat and lung problems and every time he is ill it goes straight to his throat and lungs, so much so that we are due to see a ENT specialist soon. The only thing that helps with this has been a humidfier so I couldn’t wait to try out the new one from Dyson that we have been sent to review.
It is super simple to set up and took us less than five minutes from taking it out of the box to working.
The Dyson Humidifier is cleverly designed to hygienically cleanse the air around you with even room coverage. Air is drawn into the machine before it passes over a thermostat and humidistat, to cleverly measure the temperature and humidity of your room before adjusting appropriately, so you can always enjoy a clean and comfortable environment. I have noticed that it shuts down the mist flow when it reaches the correct humidity and just circulates the air, keeping it cool and comfortable.
Dry air can lead to a number of health-related issues including dry skin and eczema, an increased susceptibility to viruses and also worsen asthma and allergies. Hydrated air moisturises the skin and airways, creating a barrier against infections such as cold and flu. The Dyson Humidifier has reassuringly been tested and certified by Airmid Healthgroup Laboratories and the British Skin Foundation as being able to help relieve the symptoms of asthma and allergies and I have also seen a noticeable improvement in my own skin with psoriasis patches shrinking and even clearing up completely in some places and since having it Sebby has not been ill, although that could be due to the warmer summer weather.
The clever Ultraviolet Cleanse technology uses a three-minute cycle to kill an incredible 99.9% of bacteria in the water tank, before projecting it into the air with a clean and hygienic mist.
The Dyson Air Multiplier™ ensures a long-range mist is generated, so you can be assured that the whole room will be humidified by up to 16m2. The water tank is able to last for up to 18 hours of continuous use, and there’s a built-in sleep timer and automatic switch-off function. You can also use the remote control provided, which has been magnetised to store on the machine, to make use of 10 airflow settings from the comfort of your sofa or bed.
This model is the only one of its kind to use dual functionality, providing the right type of air for the appropriate time of year. This acoustically engineered humidifier has also been awarded with a Quiet Mark by the Noise Abatement Society, making it ideal for using at night and even in the baby’s room.
For those really hot summer days (which seem to have all but vanished since we got the humdifier), you can use the high-velocity air to cool you down. It certainly beats having a noisy fan in the room, especially at night.
The Humidifer does require weekly maintenance and the cleaning procedures must be routinely followed to ensure that the humidifier continues to operate efficiently and are designed to help prevent the build up of scale within the machine, which will be more prominent in hard water areas. It takes less than 5 minutes to do:
- Wipe over air loop amplifier, paying close attention to the air gaps.
- Wipe with a lint-free microfibre cloth
- Empty the water tank.
- Rinse and wipe over all surfaces.
- Empty the trough of any water – be aware that small spillages may occur so best to do this over the sink.
- Wipe the exterior with a lint free microfibre cloth
The Dyson Humidifier is available from John Lewis and all good electrical retailers.
These look brilliant. I too have coveted the fan but when I saw the Humidifier in John Lewis I was impressed. Our family have various conditions this would help from constant sore throats to extremely dry skin. They look super cool too! Dyson, always get it right.

We need this. Maxi has a chest condition and needs a humidifier for the winter. In the ten years that we have used them, they have made such a difference. We have been through 3. I would love to try it out.
I didn’t know Dyson did humidifiers but I’m not surprised it is good – I am a Dyson groupie. I have their bladeless fan – it’s awesome!

Wow, Kara, what a super gadget, looks and sounds amazingly efficient! We are dehumidifying at the moment here as Greece is still so very hot but it this does sound like a very useful thing to have around in drier climates, for people who suffer with skin or lung problems.xx
