Plasticine is the perfect modelling material!
Why?
It never dries out and it can be mixed to make new colours; Plasticine is great for young hands to make fun shapes with; Expert model makers can create intricate models with fine details.; If you make a mistake or change your mind simply smooth out the area and try again; The only limit is your imagination.
Last week we were asked to run a Plastcine Softeez twitter party and discovered that plasticine is great for children and big kids too as we negotiated a series of challenges.
The favourite challenge was who could make the longest snake and all our contestants took it very seriously.
Ellie scored top marks for making hers look like a snake, complete with face and an open mouth, but Isaac just scraped the win with an impressive 94cm snake. Even Sebby had a go and add the age of two still managed a 14cm snake!
The Cupcake Creations kit was a winner for Ellie and Isaac as they enjoyed making Plasticine cakes that looked almost good enough to eat.
Eliza and Connor were more interested in the Under the Sea kits. We challenged them to make an underwater scene. They could either use the tools provided or freestyle. Both groups were very competitive and they made mermaids, octopuses and other sea creatures. Next, they presented their creations on the under the sea plastic sheet.
Although the sets are aimed at children aged 3 and over, the Plasticine Softeez was soft enough for Sebastian to easily manipulate and he enjoyed using the shaped cutters to cut out shapes, then mashed it back together and repeated over and over.
I have to admit that we were not as creative as some of the other party hosts but we had fun nonetheless and they were all very pleased with the goody bags they got to take home.
See how the other hosts got on:
