Poolside Glamour with Dickens & Jones

It has to be said that I tend to go for practical rather than beautiful when it comes to swimming costumes.  Swimming with a toddler can mean that they cling onto you for dear life, put their hands down your top or just generally tug away at your costume, so feeling secure is a must.

I am lucky enough to have been gifted with a more than ample bosom since breastfeeding all six children and it certainly makes a nice change from being flat-chested as I was in my youth, but it does bring with it a whole set of other problems.  I have lost weight recently and wear a size 12 but, with all the will in the world, swimming costumes are just too tight across the bust.

I was approached by House of Fraser to review a swimming costume from their swimsuit range and was excited to find that they stocked swimsuits according to bra size.

I chose a stunning Dickins & Jones Floral swimsuit which has a gorgeous aqua base and floral print.  The large cup swimsuit is great for support and comfort and comes with an under wire built into the garment to give a bit of extra lift. The straps are adjustable and there is tummy control lining as well as a very flattering rouching detail over the stomach which is great for drawing attention away from my tummy.

I have never felt more confident walking into a pool and everyone commented on how gorgeous the swimsuit looked.  The most important bit was that it was comfortable and everything stayed in places despite me throwing Sebby in the air catching him as he leapt into the pool.

I would happily wear this swimsuit at the beach and it looks great with a pair of denim short over the top too.

  1. Wow what a beautiful swimming costume. Before children I always wore bikinis but I don’t feel confident in them just yet and so have been looking for flattering but supportive costumes. This is so feminine, I love it!
