Happy Birthday – 18!

Well I have done it!

I have successfully raised two children into adulthood and I couldn’t be prouder.  It has been a long, sometimes challenging, often fun-filled, emotional journey to get here.

Today is Callan’s 18th Birthday and he has morphed from the laziest baby I know into a handsome young man.

On 24th June 1997 at 9.37am he entered the world.  Callan was always a chilled out baby who had no need to walk, talk or crawl as he had a big sister that doted on him and did everything for him – in fact she still does!

As a boy he adored Tweenies and Bob the Builder and adored playing with cars, however, one of my favourite memories was taking him to see the stunt car show at Disneyland Paris when he was 6 and he howled and screamed the whole way through because he was scared.  He certainly wasn’t the daredevil then he is now!

As he got older he loved all things guns and army.  He joined the army cadets and I have fond memories of him proudly marching around Poole Park on remembrance Sunday.

Callan will fully admit he wasn’t the biggest fan of school, with English being his least favourite subject. “Why write a page of rubbish when one lines says it all?” – his poor teacher used to despair, but when it came to his exams he did better than we hoped.

Callan has turned into a warm and loving young man.  He adores his brothers and sisters and vice versa, although he can be a little over-competitive at times and loves beating hubby and Kian at any challenges we do. It is impossible for me to tell him off now though as he towers above me and the little ones always fight over who he is going to carry on his shoulders as he is the tallest.

Happy Birthday Buddy, hope you have a fab day!
