Trespass Walsenburg Jacket Review

I blogged recently about my difficulty finding clothes for my 14 year old boy, as most retailers don’t seem to stock any clothing larger than an age 13 yet adult clothing still swamps my growing lad.

I was hoping to get another year out of his PO.P raincoat but with the end of the cold weather he put it on and it was clear he needed a new one.

As we are quite an outdoorsy family I wanted a coat that could withstand all that the British weather could throw at us, yet still be something that he would happily wear on the journey to school as it is a 20 minute walk each way.

I tweeted out to my followers to get some suggestions of retailers that did good quality weatherproof jackets for teens and I got a good selection back including Trespass.  My initial look at the website and their children’s range came up with one jacket that went up to an age 14, but sadly we didn’t like it.  Kian suggested we looked at the mens range and bingo – the jackets started at size XXS which was the perfect compromise.

We drew up a shortlist, with me going for bright colourful jackets and Kian preferring black and finally agreed on the Walsenburg Mens Waterproof Jacket which was black with a pop of colour on the zips and pockets.

The jacket benefits from all the high technical specs that I wanted, ensuring Kian is kept warm, dry and protected in the worst weather – the material is waterproof to 10,000mm, breathable to 5000mvp, windproof and features taped seams, which help to prevent moisture from entering the jacket through the stitching.

The jacket also has a high level of breathability, along with the underarm ventilation zips, will also prevent overheating and ensure that he will stay fresh.

For Kian the Walsenburg Jacket features 3 heat sealed water repellent zip pockets, which are just what he needs for preventing moisture from getting to his iPhone, as well as 2 lower zip pockets for extra storage.

We have had the jacket for a few weeks now and the weather has been too lovely to get much use out of it, but it has kept Kian nice on dry on the times it has been needed and he is happy to wear it to school – always a bonus as teens are notoriously poor at wearing coats.  It has growing room, although is not so big that it swamps him, which is perfect.

Trespass gets a thumbs up from us and we are so impressed with the brand that we have bought Isaac and Sebastian’s comic book inspired winter coats for next year in their sale – it is well worth checking out!

  1. I love Trespass, I was never a big fan in my teenage years, but now I’m a mummy I love their clothing. I’ve got Spud a thick style winter parka coat, it’s extremely waterproof and an excellent buy. It also has reflectors on the sleeve for night time vision, luckily he’s only out late once a year which is fireworks night!

Spud’s coat, like Kian’s is breathable too, something I find important for growing boys and their sweat glands!

Thank you also for notifying me of the sale, I shouldn’t really but I’m going to check it out! x
