Project 365 2015 – Week 8

I have to admit we have been looking forward to half term as the kids were ready for a break from school.  Hubby had some time off work so we planned lots of days out, although a couple were scuppered thanks to the weather.

We have made a pact to stop putting off visits to local places that may be more challenging with the little ones and we started as we mean’t to go on by visiting the stunning Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove on Sunday.  The walk down was remarkably stress free but with the cliffs not fenced off I did have a slight panicky moment when Eliza got a little to close to the edge for comfort. We are really lucky that our kids listen to us as this would be a dangerous place for a small person who had a tendency to bolt in the opposite direction.  We walked down to Man of War Bay and played on the beach before heading back to Lulworth Cove for a much deserved ice cream.

Monday was a rubbish wise weather wise so we hit our local soft play centre, along with what felt like the whole local population. Tuesday was another beach day only this time we tried a new walk and found some brilliant play sculptures for the kids to clamber over.

Wednesday saw us heading to London for a VTech Action Cam event where the kids got to do some stunt training on skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes whilst Thursday was another miserable day where we stayed at home and caught up with some household chores.

The lovely Monika and family from Mumonthebrink visited on Friday and we headed to Durlston Country Park.  We went there a few weeks ago but had Sebastian in his buggy which mean’t we didn’t get to explore as much as we liked.  This time Sebby was in a baby carrier and we climbed down the cliff at Anvil Point and walked up and around the lighthouse.

On Saturday we made the hours journey along the coast to West Bay, where we explored all the sights from the program Broadchurch.  The beach is fabulous and the kids adored playing by the waters edge, although we did get caught out by a rather large wave at one point.  We drove home along the coast road taking in all the sights including Chesil Beach and Portland.

  1. I’d love to go to Durdle Door again – last visit on an A level geography field trip a lot of years ago. We did manage West Bay and Bridport the June before H started school, so it’s been fun to remember that holiday when we watch Broadchurch.
