If you are a family with tweens / teens you need slightly more challenging games to enjoy, not that a riotous game of Donutters is any less enjoyable, so I have some brand new games from John Adams for you to try:
Split Second – This fast and furious game tests players ability to answer questions as quickly as possible, with players taking it in turns to become the question master. They must then spin the dial and ask one of the five questions categories, whilst the other players race to write their answers down as fast as possible onto their spring-loaded game unit paddles and release them into the centre. The quickest correct answer wins a point.
This game comes complete with over 500 questions and is suitable for 3-5 players ages 8 and over.
Think Words – This is a game that is based around the tried and tested method of word association with straightforward gameplay for all the family. One player picks a card and takes it in turns with other players to name words connected to the clue on the card, beginning with one of the letters on the game unit. You have 10 seconds to name it, press down the letter you use and pass to the next player. If you can’t think of an answer in time then you are out of the round.
Players must remember to “Name it, press it, pass it” in order to win the game. Named “Best New Toy” at London Toy Fair this year, Think Words is suitable for 2-8 players aged 8 and over.
Rummikub – I have very fond memories of this classic family game which has been played for over 50 years, with each member of the family determined to shout “Rummikub” first. In order to win players must first place all their tiles from the rack onto the table and put the tiles into sets. The sets can be made up of three or four tiles of the same number, but each in a different colour or they can be made up of three or more consecutive numbers in the same colour.
The game comes complete with 106 engraved plastic tiles, four sturdy two tier racks, eight rack holders and the all important instructions. Rummikub is suitable for 2-4 players aged 7 and over.
I cannot wait to play these on Christmas Day!!
