When hubby worked next door to Frankie & Benny’s at Castlepoint we used to be frequent visitors and I have to admit that it went downhill and we have not been for about 5 years, so when we were invited to try out their festive menu I was interested to see if they had improved.
We chose to visit the Frankie & Benny’s restaurant at Tower Park as that is closer to us and when we arrived at 5pm we were surprised to find us the only ones there. We were sat near the kitchen servery so the kids could see their dinner being cooked and given some activity packs to keep them happy whilst we surveyed the menu. Isaac was more interested in his surroundings and proceeded to grill the waitress about everything he could see around him and as it was quiet they gave him a little tour and told him about the history of the restaurant.
The activity pack is definitely one of the best I have seen at a restaurant and was packed full of exciting games, puzzles, facts and stories. The food came out so quickly that they didn’t get to complete them so they have brought them home to finish.
The menus are packed full of so much delicious food options that we struggled to choose what we wanted. The kids meals are divided into sections – one for children and one for juniors which offers a larger serving. Kian normally orders from the adult menu but the meal he wanted was on the junior menu and it was more than big enough to satisfy his teenage appetite.
I have to say the service was excellent and at one point the waitress took Isaac over to watch his food being cooked, lifting him high so he could see.
The food soon arrived and we all got stuck in. It was freshly cooked, well presented and most importantly delicious. Plates cleared it was time for dessert and we all went for Sundaes in one form or another.
By the time we left the restaurant was packed but that didn’t affect service at all, they were attentive and helpful without going over the top.
The meal cost just over £50 which for 6 of us (2 adults, a teen and 3 children) is very reasonable and would be perfect as a Christmas treat!
It sounds like you had a good time out and I think the price is excellent for such a big group including a teen.
That’s a great price for a family meal. We’re going for a birthday party this weekend so I’m looking forward to it a lot now!
Haven’t been to a Frankie and Benny’s in so long, have to admit, never really considered it when choosing somewhere to eat out with Boo (which I’ll admit we do a lot!), after your review I’ll definitely be happy to give them a try.
I am pretty sure that’s where we went last and got 20% off with NUS – need to double check that.
Glad you had a nice time – staff can make all the difference, as well as the obvious food tasting good.
Wow, that is a very reasonable price! Letting little ones see the food as it’s being cooked is a nice touch.
Always love Frankie & Bennys – though not at busy times! Glad you enjoyed it x
We went recently with friends and loved it too. Glad you had a good experience.
Glad you had a good time. I’ve eaten at several F&B’s and honestly never had a good experience. Perhaps I will try my luck again soon.
Frankie & Benny’s is a favourite dining destination of ours with our children. We think their activity packs for children are good, much better than other places, and you know what you’re getting when it comes to the food (which, with young children, is a very good thing). Good to hear you all enjoyed it.
It has been many years since ive been to Frankie and Bennys and now I would quite like to go back!
I must admit £50 for 6 is actually a very good price.
