I love it when the kids write letters to Santa and I am almost sad when they insist on posting them in a letter box.
When they get a bit bigger, present choosing gets a lot more serious and I have fond memories of my kids studying the argos catalogue and drawing big black rings around everything they wanted and folding the page at the top just to make sure we took the hint.
Now making a Christmas List has got more high-tech, with lots of websites offering a wish list, but Argos have taken it one step further will an app for your smart phone.
The free ‘My Christmas Wish List’ app is filled with colourful characters to help making choosing presents fun. Downloading the app was easy and it available on AppStore and Google Play.
In the initial settings you can set a maximum budget, maximum number of items they can pick and an email address to send the list to once they have finished. Then you can let the kids take over – Eliza loved choosing her very own monster out of Mo, Squidge, Gil, Fly and Stik to help her and even at 3 she had virtual shopping mastered with no help from me!
Eliza took a selfie and got choosing. Once she had added her toys to the list she was then able to personalise the app with stickers, drawings, or list the presents in the order they want them. The list is then ready to be emailed off to Santa (the email address you put in at the beginning). All the monsters gather on the app and wave the envelope off as it begins its journey to the North Pole.
When the list comes through it had the pictures of the products Eliza had chosen and at the bottom of the email it has the price of her selection too. Perfect for me to divide up and send on to friends and relatives.
I do still love a good old letter to Santa though!
