How to make Skylanders Traptanium

Ask Isaac what he wants for Christmas and you can guarantee the three words that come out of his mouth are Skylanders Trap Team!

In Skylanders Trap Team, the Skylands’ most evil villain, Kaos, has blown up the legendary Cloudcracker Prison, releasing Skylands’ biggest baddies and blasting shards of Traptanium to earth in the form of traps.

Now it’s up to portal masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using powerful Traptanium Traps and defeat Kaos before it is too late!

To help protect Skylands from Kaos and his troupe of villains Skylanders Trap Team set us a task – one that will see us grow our very own Traptanium crystals!

How to make Traptanium:

1. Safety First! Put on your safety goggles
2. Measure 1/4 cup of hot tap water and put into a beaker
3. Add four teaspoons of alum stirring all the time, and keep adding until no more will dissolve
4. Pour some of the mixture into a petri dish and leave overnight.  (Don’t touch it)
5. The next day you should see some Traptanium start to grow.  When you think they’re big enough, take out the biggest and best looking crystal.
6. Tie a string around the crystal and tie the other end around a pencil
7. Set the pencil across the top of the jar so the crystal is suspended in the rest of the solution without touching the sides or the bottom. Careful: if your crystal starts to dissolve remove from the solution and add some more alum.
8. Cover the jar with a paper towel and watch the traptanium grow.  It will take about two weeks
9. Once you think the crystal is big enough it out and set on some cling film to dry.

Isaac is really enjoying growing his Traptanium and we cannot wait to see the results.
